Jump Forcedidn’t exactly light the world on fire when it launched in February, but the ambitious crossover fighting game’s impressive roster of popular anime characters is still quite appealing. And as it so happens,Jump Forceis expanding its roster soon, withYu-Gi-Oh!’s Seto Kaiba coming to the game as part of thefirst wave of DLC in May.
Kaiba was first announced forJump Forcea couple of weeks ago, but now a gameplay trailer for theYu-Gi-Oh!anti-hero has been released. As expected, Kaiba plays similarly to Yugi does on the base roster, summoning real-world Duel Monsters creatures to do his fighting for him. Most notably, Kaiba’s signature card, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon will be part of his move-set.
The Blue-Eyes White Dragon is one of the most recognizableYu-Gi-Oh!cards, featured in a wide variety of the franchise’s merchandise. And since the very first episode of the anime, it has been strongly associated with Kaiba, so it’s no surprise to see him wield it inJump Force. Other cards for Kaiba are also teased in his reveal trailer, but his full deck has yet to be revealed.
Kaiba joins a crowded roster of fighters inJump Force. TheJump Forceroster is comprised of some of the most famous anime characters in history, including Naruto,Dragon Ball’s Goku, and Monkey D. Luffy fromOne Piece. More recent anime hits likeMy Hero AcademiaandBlack Cloverare also represented on theJump Forceroster, but they only have one character apiece. At the time of writing,Yu-Gi-Oh!’s only representation inJump Forceis Yugi Moto, but that will change whenKaiba is added in May.
Kaiba’s addition to theJump Forceroster may be a hint about what to expect from future DLC. Perhaps futureJump ForceDLC will look to flesh out the other under-represented anime series, likeBlack CloverandMy Hero Academia. Or maybe it will continue to give the bigger franchises some love. Regardless,Jump Forceplayers should have no shortage of choices when it comes to picking a fighter in the game.
Jump Forceis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
