The inevitable sequel to box office darlingJurassic World Rebirthcould truly shake the franchise up by following through on a concept from its latest star, Scarlett Johansson. There isno end in sight for theJurassic Worldfranchise, considering that its latest entry has managed to fend off the year’s two biggest superhero movies in its march towards the $1 billion mark.
Essentially acting as a soft reboot for the franchise after the critical disaster ofJurassic World: Dominion,Jurassic World Rebirthstars Scarlett Johansson as Zora Bennett, a seasoned covert operations expert. Zora is tasked with leading a team that transports a paleontologist to one of the last remaining dinosaur strongholds on Earth to secure genetic material that could save millions of lives.

By the end of the movie, Zora is one of the few surviving members of the original team, and she allies with Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey) to ensure that the material they’ve collected is shared with the world and not pocketed by a pharmaceutical company and sold for outrageous profits.
IfJurassic World 5does happen (and it seems likely given the unending profitability of the franchise), Zora Bennett would almost certainly return in some capacity given Scarlett Johansson’s huge star power. Johansson herself threw out an idea in a press junket that actually would be a great way to move the franchise forward, but would limit her involvement.

Jurassic World 5 Using Scarlett Johansson’s Early Movie Death Idea Would Be A Huge Twist
In a press junket for her 2024 movieFly Me to the Moon, Johansson was asked about her place in theJurassic Worldfranchise, which she had lobbied for since it returned withJurassic Worldin 2015. PerComicBook.com, Johansson referred to her desire to join the franchise given how big a fan she was.
I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years. I’m like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever!
It’s clearly meant as a joke by Johansson in the moment, but it actually brings up a decent enough idea if it were executed properly. Her character Zora Bennett is the clear lead protagonist inJurassic World Rebirth, but she has not attained the iconic status of Sam Neill’s Alan Grant or Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady after just one movie.

If Zora were to be killed off early inJurassic World 5, it would be a major twist for a franchise that has long struggled with complaints about over-familiarity. Zora dying quickly would set the tone for the rest of the movie, and really the rest of the franchise, by establishing that nobody is safe when around thepowerful dinosaurs and mutant hybridsof the new world.
It would be an undoubtedly bold choice for a franchise that is just getting back on its feet from an overarching narrative standpoint, asJurassic World Rebirthhad middling critic reviews even if the box office haul was excellent. However, it could be just the right move to shake things up in a good way, and repackage the dinosaurs as the scary threats that they were duringJurassic Park.
