Why You Should Play Super Mario Strikers
5v5 Soccer Fun
Super Mario StrikersisMario’s take on soccer (or properly known as “football”). The game is a bit rougher than traditional soccer, though, as there are no referees to call penalties for shoving or other fouls, and classicMarioitems like bananas and red shells can be used to stun the opposing team. Probably the biggest change from traditional soccer is the use of Super Strikes, which allows team captains to score two points with one shot.
The team captains arenotableMariocharacters, like Mario himself, Luigi, Daisy, Peach, and others. The secondary characters play the roles of the “sidekicks,” and make up the rest of the team, including Toad, Birdo, and a couple of other smaller Mario characters. The goalkeeper is Kritter for all teams, except for the secret unlockable Super Team. While the game was criticized for its small roster and lack of modes, fans will likely get a kick out of returning to Mario’s original soccer outing, after its sequel,Mario Strikers: Battle League, seemed to getoverlooked by a lot of fans.
