TheMarvel Cinematic Universefranchise has cast a new Blade actor inMarvel Zombies. Despite having announced it back at San Diego Comic-Con 2019,Bladeis still in development hell, with Marvel Studios still remaining committed to bringing the iconic hero to the big screen, but the character is set to return to TV this fall.
Marvel Zombieswill be the last animated MCU TV show for 2025, but it won’t be the final Marvel series to come out on Disney+ for the year. While an exact premiere date hasn’t been set yet, theWonder Manseries will be debuting on Disney+ in December, making it the first live-action Phase 6 show for the MCU.

AsMarvel Zombiesis the next MCU TV show that will be coming out on Disney+, Blade will be back for the animated series, but it won’t be Mahershala Ali voicing him. According toComicBook.com, Todd Williams is set to voice Blade inMarvel Zombies, which arrives in September.
What Todd Williams' Blade Casting Means For The MCU
With Williams being added to theMarvel Zombiescast, many are likely wondering whether this means that Ali has been fully replaced in the MCU as Blade. It’s not uncommon for the MCU to have some of its big characters being voiced by other actors in its animated projects, withWhat If…?being a perfect example of that.
However, as Blade has continued to struggle moving forward at Marvel Studios, there could always be the possibility that Ali has quietly exited the role, with Williams now potentially taking over even in live-action. But that is strictly a theory, as Marvel Studios hasn’t announced if Ali is completely done with the MCU.

It is most likely that Williams may be just voicing the character for this particular Blade appearance inMarvel Zombies, especially since this will be a variant of the character in theMCU timeline. Whether Williams will voice Blade in future animated MCU projects remains to be seen.
Our Take On Todd Williams' Blade Casting
While it is definitely a surprise that Ali isn’t voicing Blade inMarvel Zombies, time will tell what Williams' future in the MCU as the character will look like after the Phase 6 animated series. Since Marvel Studios hasn’t announced any further animated shows beyond Phase 6, it remains to be seen what Blade’s animated appearances will be like in the future.
Whether or not Williams will fully take over as Blade from Ali is the bigger question, given how the live-action film has been delayed over and over again. But for now, fans can look forward to seeing Blade inMarvel Zombieson September 24.
