InMonster Hunter World, players can collect investigation quests that allow them to hunt the same monsters repeatedly for added awards. These investigations, more specifically threat level 2 tempered investigations, are actually one of the best ways tofarm rare decorations in the game, which are necessary for players to truly reach their full potential as a hunter.

Getting investigations inMonster Hunter Worldis done by finding traces of a monster while out on expeditions or quests. The most common trace will come in the form of footprints, which can be found all over each region of the game. However, with a number of different monsters populating the game world, some players may not know which monsters are the best to farm footprints for. Luckily, Reddit user zanquell has put together a list of the best monsters to farm footprints for, ranked below from best to worst:

Monster Hunter World: 7 Hardest Monsters in the Game - pink rathian

Some of the monsters on zenquell’s list are considered to bethe hardest monsters in the game, so players should be weary while farming footprints. In order to collect as many footprints as possible in any given run, players will want to follow closely behind the monsters as they move throughout the game world without antagonizing the beast and getting into a fight.

One way players can make farming footprints from monsters easier is by hiding from them. This could be as simple as trailing just far enough behind the monster to keep in sight without aggravating it, but players can also use the Ghillie Mantle to become completely invisible to whatever beast they’re trailing.

With these tips in mind, players should be able to farm footprints (and in turn, investigations) a lot more efficiently inMonster Hunter World.

Monster Hunter Worldis available now for PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC release planned for later this year.
