Years afterMoon Knightdebuted on Disney+, the crew is still in the dark regarding its sophomore season. The show, which was created by Jeremy Slater and directed by Mohamed Diab, followed Oscar Isaac’s Marc Spector and Steven Grant as they reckoned with dissociative identity disorder and their connection with an ancient Egyptian god.
Season 1 premiered on July 30, 2025 and concluded on June 25, 2025, and the show proved to be moderately successful for Disney+. Despite largely positive reception from critics and audiences, Marvel Studios has not announcedMoon Knightseason 2. Kevin Feige has stated that there is “a future for that character” but offered no other insight.
DuringScreenRant’sEyes of Wakandainterview with composer Hesham Nazih, who also worked onMoon Knight, Nazih expressed that “no one knows” if season 2 is coming. While Nazih asked multiple other members of the crew, he was repeatedly told that the show’s fate is uncertain. Check out his response below:

What This Means For Moon Knight Season 2
Three years afterMoon Knightseason 1 was released, the future of the show appears bleak. With even the crew failing to receive news of a follow-up, development has seemingly not begun in earnest. Since Marvel Studios is now more so focusing on quality over quantity, that does make some sense, as it is instead considering other properties.
Moon Knightis not the only Marvel content that has failed to receive a follow-up in recent years. Despite moderate success,Hawkeyeseason 2has not been greenlit yet, and aShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ringssequel hasn’t been released, although the latter is in development. Many of these characters could return in future installments, but full sequels and new seasons are not confirmed or still far off.
Marvel’s post-Avengers: Endgameera approach has been controversial, partly to these delayed follow-ups. Audiences who werehoping for moreShang-ChiorMoon Knightcould conceivably lose interest in the characters. As Marvel continues searching for its new crowd-pleasers, that is a worrying prospect.
Our Take On Moon Knight Season 2
Moon Knightwas a fun production, and it did prove to be unique among Marvel’s offerings. It earned an 86% Tomatometer score and an 88% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes, despitefacing accusations of review-bombing. It was successful enough that a follow-up should have been warranted.
Failing to provide a season 2 in a timely fashion likely means that it will not be made at all. Oscar Isaac has a busy schedule, and audiences have many other shows and movies to look forward to. With Marvel’s overall viewership declining, the studio needs to focus on rebuilding its reputation through quality and audience engagement.
Calls forMoon Knightseason 2 do still come, but the wider audience has not been clamoring for a follow-up in recent years. Instead, the show appears to have simply lost its prominence. If Isaac reprises his role inAvengers: Doomsday, interest may rise again. For now, Disney has no need to develop the show’s sophomore season anytime soon.
