Red Eagle Entertainment, owner of the newly acquired film rights to fantasy author Robert Jordan’sWheel of Timeseries, are planning to have several games made to accompany the films. This is not a terrible idea, and the previousWheel of Timegame was excellently done.

Judging from the success and brilliance of all theLord of the Ringsmovie-to-games, it’s easy to assume thatWoTwill translate just as well. The first movie (and subsequent game we’re guessing) isThe Eye of the World– a wonderful account of a young boy named Rand coming to know his destiny and traveling throughout an unfamiliar world rife with turmoil, evil dudes, and more evil dudes.

I’ve read a lot of fantasy and I honestly think this is quite possibly the worst idea ever. George R.R. Martin, John Marco, or even a bit of Terry Goodkind would be much better suited for games. At the very least, theWheel of Timegames should include many “icy” or “cold” stare mini-games for the Wii crowd.
