My Hero Academia: Vigilantesis already confirmed for season 2, and fans should be excited, as season 2 should cover (at least part of) the greatest arc in the entire franchise. That arc is known as the Tokyo Sky Egg arc, and puts the pro heroes and vigilantes alike into a difficult position as a terrorist attack threatens a celebration.

It’s not yet known how long season 2 ofVigilanteswill be; if it’s 13 episodes, then it’s unlikely to get through the entire Tokyo Sky Egg arc, but if it’s 26, like the averageMy Hero Academiaseason, then it will probably finish. SinceMy Hero Academiaseason 1 was 13 episodes, it’s quite possibleVigilanteswill increase its episode count.

The Tokyo Sky Egg is An Arc Unlike Any Other

The Tokyo Sky Egg Arc Puts MHA’s Pro Heroes On High Alert

The “Tokyo Sky Egg” is a fictional tower which exists inMy Hero Academia, based on the real-life Tokyo Skytree and Tokyo Dome.It has a massive dome-shaped level at the top of the tower, looking somewhat similar to the Space Needle in Seattle. The Tokyo Sky Egg is the site of a massive going-away party for visiting hero Captain Celebrity.

With thousands of people gathered to bid farewellto America’s #1 hero after his stint in Japan, the building comes under attack by a devious villain, aiming to kill Captain Celebrity. There are many pro heroes in attendance, like Midnight and Ingenium, but given the nature of the attack, they’re limited in what they can do to respond.

All Might stands victorious after battling All for One, raising a fist in the air as a symbol of peace.

Koichi, of course, is also in attendance, and is seemingly outclassed, but can’t simply stand by and let the pro heroes handle the situation. As the Sky Egg comes at risk of collapsing, it’s up to Koichi and a handful of pros to save the day.

What Makes the Tokyo Sky Egg Arc So Great

The Tokyo Sky Egg Arc is a Major Moment of Growth for Several Characters

ThroughoutVigilantesso far, many of the events that have taken place have been on a relatively small scale, at least in terms of the number of people involved. That’s why Koichi and the other vigilantes have been able to handle it. This incident, however, is a full-scale attack, and is arguably way over Koichi’s head.

As such, the arc represents a major growth opportunity for Koichi; can he truly be a hero when the chips are down and the situation is legitimately deadly? After all, Pop Step is also present and in danger, in addition to the thousands of innocent people in attendance. Will Koichi make his old master proud?

Aside from Koichi, this is alsoa significant moment for Captain Celebrity. He was shown in season 1 to be a bit self-obsessed and struggling to rehabilitate his image. Has he made any substantial progress on that goal? Will he be able to step up and save everyone at this going-away party, even knowing he’s the target?

Fans might even get a glimpse of All Might in action as the arc goes on, showing what he was like before the start of the original series.

There are also plenty of other characters who get great moments throughout the arc: Aizawa and Fat Gum work together on a raid in Osaka, while Best Jeanist comes in clutch back at the Sky Egg. Fans might even get a glimpse of All Might in action as the arc goes on, showing what he was like before the start of the original series.

The Tokyo Sky Egg Arc Deserves A Place Among My Hero Academia’s Best

The Arc is as Dramatic and Exciting as My Hero Academia’s Best Arcs

Overall, the Tokyo Sky Egg arc is without a doubt the best arc inMy Hero Academia: Vigilantes, and deserves a spot alongside the best moments ofMy Hero Academiaproper as well. The arc is comparable to the Hideout Raid arc, which sees the pro heroes attempting to free Bakugo, and ends with All Might facing down All for One.

Aside from the cool moments featuring the aforementioned characters, the Sky Egg arc also puts a focus on the “rescue” aspect of being a pro hero, something that the main series often glosses over. Being a hero means more than just fighting villains; it’s primarily about saving people, even if that isn’t what a character wants to do at that moment.

The story arc also does reveal some important lore, such as how police detective Tsukauchi learned of All Might’s One for All secrets. And, of course, there are some momentous reveals aboutVigilantes' characters as well, such as the true identity of Knuckleduster and how he became a vigilante in the first place.

All in all, the Tokyo Sky Egg arc is exceptionally well-paced and depicts heroes responding to an actual disaster, something that wasn’t seen too often in the mainMy Hero Academiaseries. The arc represents a turning point in the story, becoming more serialized and less episodic, as well as introducing the big villain for the rest of the series.

Assuming the animation quality remains as high as it was in season 1, the Tokyo Sky Egg arc could be quite breathtaking indeed, and the arc would make up the bulk of the season. The performances for all the characters in season 1 were excellent in both Japanese and English, so there’s little to worry about on that front.

Fans have plenty of reasons to be excited aboutMy Hero Academia: Vigilantesseason 2, even if the mainMy Hero Academiaseries is over with by that point. With some awesome action, excellent character development, high-stakes drama, and important lore reveals, the next arc ofVigilantesis sure to be one of the best arcs in the entire franchise.
