What Pride & Prejudice’s New Image Says About The Show
The Miniseries Adaptation Has Entered Production
Colman will be portraying Mrs. Bennet, the mother of Corrin’s Elizabeth and four other children, who are played by the other actors in the image. The show now going into production means there will likely be more updates about the story and what to expect from this rendition of the novel. This includes any additions or changes it’ll make.
The series is beingwritten by Dolly Alderton and directed by Euros Lyn. It marks the first direct adaptation of the novel to either film or television since2005’sPride & Prejudice. It seems like, given the plethora of accurate adaptations that already exist of the book, the show will honor the source material by pulling directly from it.
The costume design and the setting indicate this will be an accurate adaptation, something that may even stand alongside the most memorablePride and Prejudicemovie adaptationsif it’s done properly.Colman and Corrin’s previous work in period pieceslike on thecast ofThe Crownmake them perfect leads for this TV version of the story.
Our Take On Pride & Prejudice’s New Image & Production Start
How Will The Adaptation Compare To Others That Came Before?
While it’s unclear how the quality ofPride and Prejudicewill shape up when contrasted with previous adaptations, the talent behind it and in front of the camera seems perfect for a new rendition of the story.Much like prior works, it will probably keep the same spirit as Austen’s original, even if some elements are changed or modernized.
The show is likely to follow very similar story beats to what’s come before, but the image suggests that its presentation will be the core selling point. Since Colman and Corrin have already proven their talent in period dramas,Pride and Prejudiceis likely to be no different, even if it’ll be very different with its 19th century setting.
