After three seasons, Netflix’sThe Lincoln Lawyerstill has the perfect opportunity for a great cameo that would reference a $87 million thriller movie from 14 years ago. Based on the books by Michael Connelly, the legal drama is, without a doubt, one of the best Netflix original shows. The passionate fanbase is eagerly awaitingThe Lincoln Lawyerseason 4.
Although there aregreat shows likeThe Lincoln Lawyerto watch in the meantime, nothing quite hits the same way. However, the Netflix show wasn’t the first attempt at adapting Mickey Haller’s story for the screen. If co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez wanted to entertain long-time fans, they could include the perfect cameo that nods to the 14-year-old thriller movie.

Matthew McConaughey Should Play A New Character In The Lincoln Lawyer To Play Tribute To His Movie Adaptation
Matthew McConaughey Could Be A Fun Cameo In The Netflix Show
In 2011, Matthew McConaughey played Mickey Haller in the movie adaptation of The Lincoln Lawyer. Eleven years later, Netflix released the first season of their version of The Lincoln Lawyer, starring Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as the charming main character. Although existing fans were skeptical of the new actor, he won most people over.
Still, considering the popularity of this version of Michael Connelly’s book character, it would be great to bring the actor in as a cameo to pay homage to the story’s past iterations. McConaughey taking on a major role would be distracting, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo is a great enough Mickey that he deserves to shine without the shadow of his predecessor.

That being said, a brief appearance would be nostalgic. Some interesting possibilities would be for him to play a distant family member of Mickey Haller or a lawyer in Los Angeles whom Mickey acknowledges in passing. Either option would feel like a nod to who McConaughey played in the past.
How Manuel Garcia-Rulfo’s Mickey Haller Compares To Matthew McConaughey’s Version
The Two Actors Have Different Takes On Michael Connelly’s Character
While Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Matthew McConaughey’s versions of Mickey Haller have a lot of similarities, they’re also extremely different. Garcia-Rulfo, who is a Mexican actor, is more reflective of Mickey Haller’s mixed ethnicity from the book. Additionally, he shows the more emotionally sensitive side of the character, while McConaughey’s Mickey is a little bit less expressive of his feelings.
Despite the two having significant differences, I don’t think one is necessarily better than the other…
On the other hand, Matthew McConaughey’s Mickey is driven heavily by money, focusing on what he will get out of his job instead of the justice aspect. He also can’t get over Maggie, even though they have divorced. McConaughey’s Mickey and Marisa Tomei’s Maggie McPherson have more romantic chemistry and tension than Garcia-Rulfo’s Mickey andNeve Campbell’s Maggie.
Despite the two having significant differences, I don’t think one is necessarily better than the other, though it’s completelly fair for others to have preferences. Instead, it feels like two separate but equally valid interpretations of the character from Michael Connelly’sThe Lincoln Lawyer.
