What This New Movie Means For Amityville’s Horror Legacy

This New Movie Will Not Be Part Of The Amityville Horror Franchise

Unlike the original movie and the many sequels that spawnedThe Amityville Horrorfranchise, this latest movie will not be using Jay Anson’s best-selling 1977 bookas its source material or be related to the existing franchise’s IP. Instead, the Winters’ new movie is looking to delve into the real-life events surrounding the infamous house at 112 Ocean Avenue, Amityville.

While plot details are currently under wraps, according toDeadline’s original report, this new filmwill not focus on the highly publicized 1974 DeFeo family murdersor the house’s subsequent occupants, the Lutz family. In particular, it was the Lutz family’s unsettling 28-day stint occupying the house that inspired much of the original book and movie.
