Ever since E3 2019,Super Smash Bros. Ultimatefans have been patiently waiting forDragon Quest’s Erdrick, aka “Hero,” to make his way into the game. We still don’t have an official release date for Hero inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, but a new video by Nintendo may hint that the character is coming to the game within the next couple of weeks.
Nintendo released a video that showcases some of the biggest Nintendo Switch games coming this summer, focusing largely on July. The video shows gameplay footage ofFire Emblem: Three Houses, which releases July 26, as well asMarvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, which launches on July 19. It also touches on the current season ofFortniteand showsDragon Quest’s HeroinSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Since all of the footage shown is of games or in-game events for July, many have come to the conclusion that Hero is coming toSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateby the end of the month. Nintendo has yet to make an official announcement, though, so it’s possible that the character won’t come until August or later, but things are looking good for a July release.
For more proof that theSuper Smash Bros. UltimateHero release datecould be in July, fans just need to look back at a tweet by Nintendo France. Nintendo France suggested that more information on Hero inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatecould be coming in an upcoming episode of itsSuper Smash Bros.video series, with some speculating that it could include a release date announcement.
But as previously stated, theSuper Smash Bros. UltimateHero release date could slip to August, or maybe even September. Summer 2019 technically doesn’t end until September 22, so anytime between now and then should be considered Hero’s official release window.
With theSuper Smash Bros. UltimateHero release date being this summer, fans can expectBanjo-Kazooieto come in the fall. At least two other characters are planned for after Banjo-Kazooie’s release, but we’ll have to wait to find out more about them.
