One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knowshas dropped a new trailer, showing off some more of the 3v3 gameplay and sharing some new information with fans. A post on the official Bandai Namco website accompanied the trailer, offering more detailed information on the new developments forOne Punch Manwithin the two minute trailer.
TheOne Punch Mangame, announced back in June, is being developed by Spike Chunsoft and published by Bandai Namco, who intend to replicate their success withDragon Ball FighterZwith another stylized release based on a popular anime. While the developer has mostly worked with Visual Novels and RPGs like the stellarDangonronpaseries and early installments of theDragon Questfranchise, it also has a history with action based games up to the pace ofOne Punch Man.

Another important aspect of the game that the new trailer showcased was the character customization thatOne Punch Manoffers. The customization comes from theplayer character not being Saitama, the titular character of the anime series that the game is based on, and instead players will create their own characters and work towards becoming a hero throughout the game’s campaign. This is one of many deviationsOne Punch Mantakes from others within its genre, and likely a necessary addition to make the gameplay compelling when creating a game out of a character that literally wins every fight in just one punch.
Since the game first announced that it would be the firstconsole and PC releasefor the series, it has already built up some fanfare among fans of the anime and of the fighting game genre. The premise alone sounds ridiculous, but with choices like turning Saitama into more of an assist character as opposed to a featured fighter for the story mode, it seems that Spike Chunsoft knows what it’s doing with the character. It won’t be long now untilOne Punch Manis making headlines in fighting tournaments alongside similarly stylized titles likeDragon BallandMarvel vs Capcom.
