Several weeks ago, a teaser website for the mysteriousPersona 5 Slaunched, further fueling a longstanding rumor that a Switch port of Atlus’s acclaimed 2016 jRPG was on its way. Indeed, a number of fans expectedPersona 5 Sto be shorthand forPersona 5Switch, but that is now confirmed to not be the case.

Earlier today, Atlus revealed the first trailer forPersona 5Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, a new action RPG set to release on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on a currently unspecified date. Developed by Omega Force, a division of Koei Tecmo,Persona 5 Scrambleis a musou game, and fans of the studio’sDynasty Warriorsfranchise may find a lot to love in the new trailer.

In thePersona 5 Scrambletrailer, players will seePersona 5’s protagonist, Joker, square off against massive enemy hordes, wielding his signature weapons and calling upon his persona for assistance. While this setup may appeal  to some, thePersona 5 Sreveal does seem to have some fans disappointed.

At the time of writing, thePersona 5 Strailer has 9,700 likes on YouTube, but it also has 3,500 dislikes, with a number of them coming from fans that were hoping to be playingPersona 5Switch in the near future. Certainly, Atlus had never made any official indication that aPersona 5port for Switch was in the works, but several apparent leaks over the past handful of months kept fans dreaming.

The most recentPersona 5Switch leakcame immediately following the launch of thePersona 5 Steaser website. At that time, it was discovered that Best Buy’s employee system contained a record forPersona 5Switch, complete with original UPC and SKU codes, which was taken as virtual confirmation of the port by a number of fans. However, it appears that it was not meant be.

Fortunately, fans that are looking to spend more time withPersona 5can look forward toPersona 5: The Royal, and expanded version of the base game scheduled for worldwide release in 2020. That said,Persona 5: The Royalis a PS4 exclusive, which does not address many players' desire to take Atlus’s sensational jRPG with them on the go.
