WhenPokemon Let’s Go PikachuandLet’s Go Eeveewere announced, some fans were understandably disappointed. After all, Nintendo and Game Freak promised full-blown, core entries in thePokemonRPG series, and while theLet’s Gogames have potential, it’s no secret that they’re aimed at the more casual,Pokemon GOcrowd. Luckily, a pair of corePokemonRPGs are in development for release in late 2019 on the Switch, and while details are scarce, fans can rest assured knowing the games will introduce “a lot” of new Pokemon to the franchise.

This is according to Tsunekazu Ishihara, the president and CEO of The Pokemon Company. The introduction of new Pokemon in 2019 should satisfy those disappointed that theLet’s Gogames will besticking to the original 151(for the most part), though we’re likely a year or so away before the new creatures are revealed to the world.

Ishihara also touched on other things thePokemongames on Switch will bring to the table in 2019. According to Ishihara, the games will be aimed at “experienced fans” of thePokemonfranchise, and will also feature a visual upgrade when compared to previous games in the series.

Overall, it sounds like Game Freak knows what hardcorePokemonfans want from the next core entries on the Switch, and so those disappointed by theLet’s Gogames should have something to look forward to next year. Not only will players have “a lot” of new Pokemon to catch, but the games will presumably havetraditional online features like Wonder Tradethat won’t be seen in theLet’s Gotitles as well.

The allure of new Pokemon may be a big draw for thePokemonSwitch games coming in 2019, but it’s worth pointing out that thePokemon Let’s Gotitles will be introducing at least one new creature. Players will be able to unlock a brand new Pokemon inPokemon GOby linking it withPokemon Let’s Go, and while we know nothing about this Pokemon, it’s still an exciting prospect.
