Pokemonfans who prefer the Switch, their mobile devices, or the big screen may all be in for a treat this coming summer. A new animatedPokemonfilm,Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution, is slated for a Japanese release on July 12 and rumors have been circulating that bothPokemon GOandPokemon Let’s Gohave plans to celebrate the premiere.
Although no officialPokemon GOcrossovers have been confirmed yet, The Pokemon Company has revealed that those who purchase tickets in advance forPokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolutionwill get Mewtwo forPokemon: Let’s Go,Pikachu & Eevee. The bonus Mewtwo will have a CP of 10,000 inLet’s Go. Despite the lack of any official announcements, recent game code has led thePokemon GOcommunity to believe thatan armored Mewtwo form is coming to the mobile game.
Armored Mewtwo has been a rumored part of the upcoming movie for months, so it’s no surprise that fans are expecting the new form to arrive in the existing games this summer, as well. The latest trailer forMewtwo Strikes Backhas reignited these theories by putting the armored form in the spotlight once again…
At this point, there is still no official confirmation about when or if armored Mewtwo is going to arrive inPokemon GO. That said, the recently datamined code combined with the knowledge of the film’s release does seem to hint at an impending arrival. It would be smart of The Pokemon Company to use the movie as another form of cross-promotion, so don’t be surprised if earning an armored Mewtwo encounter involves some type of purchase related to the film. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see any promotions are worldwide or limited to just areas where the film is showing.
