Pokemon GO’sDetective Pikachuevent is now live, with players having a chance to participate in the festivities from now until May 17. Like mostPokemon GOevents, theDetective Pikachuevent adds special limited-time Field Research tasks that players can complete for unique rewards.

As somePokemon GOfans have noticed, not all of theDetective PikachuField Research tasks are as straightforward as past events. Instead of tellingPokemon GOplayers exactly what they need to do, the tasks require them to watch theDetective Pikachutrailerand figure out which Pokemon each one is referring to.
In the meantime, special Field Research tasks aren’t the only thing forPokemon GOfans to dive into during theDetective Pikachuevent. There’s also the chance to catch aPikachu in a detective hat, as it will potentially photobomb any photos players take in the game while the event is live. Additionally, new raid bosses are expected to be added as well, though none have been reported at the time of this writing.
Meanwhile,Pokemon GOplayers can also look forward to increased spawn rates for Pokemon featured in theDetective Pikachumovie. This includes some rare Pokemon like Charizard, Snorlax, region-exclusive Mr. Mime, Ludicolo, and more, soPokemon GOplayers should definitely make it a point to participate in theDetective Pikachuevent festivities while they still have a chance.
