Pokemon GO’slatest event,Adventure Week, is in full swing, with the mobile augmented reality game seeing an increase of Rock-type Pokemon spawns. From Omanytes to Lileeps, this event is an excellent way for players to fill their Pokedex with fossil pokemon, but for those who want a shiny out of the event, there appears to be a small issue.

During events that feature an increased spawn rate, it’s a bit easier to grind for a shiny due to the amount of Pokemon spawning. However, it appears that a recent glitch does not show the shiny version of the Pokemon on the catch screen; in fact,Pokemon GOis not showing the shiny model until players go into their Pokemon list.

Pokemon GO Opens Raid Battles to Almost All Players - Tyranitar

Luckily enough, the glitch has an easy fix. It appears to be a result of the way the game stores its 3D models, which are typically updated when new shinies release. Until Niantic releases a permanent fix for this, players can simply restart the game, which should update the 3D model appropriately.

In every other sense, the Pokemon identifies as a shiny, with the animation appearing correctly on the catch screen, not being able to be mass transferred, and containing the shiny icon. For some, this means that it’s possible a shiny has been caught without being realized; for others, it can mean that they fled from a shiny pokemon, thinking it was its non-shiny counterpart. As unfortunate as this is, many may also be happy that this glitch doesn’t seem likely to affectLarvitar’s upcoming Community Day.

In the meantime, a simple reset and a watchful eye will fix this issue. If Niantic updates the 3D models to fix this widespread issue, then perhaps it’ll addLarvitar’s family sprites. Hopefully, this glitch doesn’t put a damper on an otherwise intriguing event, but the possibility of accidentally missing a shiny is also a bit daunting. When Niantic addresses it, we’ll be sure to report it.
