Mewtwo, the Legendary Psychic Pokemon, has returned toPokemon GO, an event that should be met with excitement, but nothing seems to be working out as planned. First, there was controversy with the Pokemon itself, which has been buffed to such a degree that it is causing anxiety amongst the community. This was followed shortly after with theLegendary Raid Hour being delayed. On the upside, Niantic has rescheduled the event and announced a new date. Unfortunately, it is weeks away and returning on an important religious holiday.

Niantic made a post on Twitter to alert players of the new event date, which is now going live on October 8 from 6 PM to 7 PM local time. This would have the event fall on Yom Kippur, which has elicited responses fromPokemon GOplayers who are asking for the company to pick another date. At the time of writing this article, no further updates have been made.

The Mewtwo Legendary Raid Hour was originally scheduled for September 18, but Niantic ended up delaying the event. The company released a statement claiming “technical difficulties” were to blame. This was later backed up by folks in New Zealand, the first region to get the Raid Hour. They reported that theMewtwoRaid Hour was having technical issues, prompting Niantic to take action.

Outside of the Raid Hour, the Legendary Raid itself was stirring up anger from the community as soon as the Pokemon became available. This was due to the unpopular decision by Niantic to add a muchmore powerful Mewtwoto the game than before. The Legendary Pokemon went from being a standard Tier 5 boss to a Tier 6, which significantly alters how players attempt the encounter.

The upgrade means Mewtwo comes with more HP and CP, requiring up to four trainers to take it down. That level of coordination is difficult for some players and they were not happy about the change.Pokemon GOdeveloper Niantichas thus far chosen not to hear these critiques, however. Instead, it is focusing its energy on fixing the technical problems associated with the Legendary Raid Hour.
