The spring equinox arrives next week, heralding warmer weather here in the Northern Hemisphere and autumn for our friends in the south. To celebrate the coming equinox,Pokemon GOis holding an in-game event that will feature Grass-type Pokemon.

The upcoming equinox event will begin July 31, 2025, at 1:00 PM PDT and run until August 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM PST. During this time, trainers can expect to see a lot more Grass-types roaming the wild, such as Oddish, Exeggcute, Sunkern, and Shroomish. To go with the equinox theme, Lunatone and Solrock will be swapping hemispheres at the launch of the event, and will remain there after its conclusion. Longtime players will know that these two have a habit of moving regions every so often; their time has come once again.

Grass-types will also be part of new limited-time Field Research and can be challenged in raids. Some fresh new moves will also be added to the game during thePokemon GOevent. Leaf Tornado will strictly be for Grass-types, while Acid Spray will be more adaptable.

Here are the Pokemon that can equip these new moves:

Before the equinox kicks off,Pokemon GOtrainers can participate in this weekend’s Special Raid. Starting Friday, March 15, and lasting until the following Monday, players have a shot atcatching the Legendary Pokemon Rayquaza. The last time this Legendary Pokemon was available was a year ago, so this is the perfect time for those hoping to add it to their collection. To provide a slight leg up against this powerful foe, remember that Rayquaza is weak against Dragon-, Fairy-, Ice-, and Rock-type Pokemon, and is strong against Fire-, Grass-, and Bug-types.
