Summary
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetare almost due for the second and final chapter of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC titled The Indigo Disk. While the first part of the DLC (The Teal Mask) took players to Kitakami, a land inspired by the Tohoku region of Japan, The Indigo Disk will take place at Blueberry Academy.
Players who are gearing up to playScarlet and Violet’s The Indigo Disk and close out the story that started in The Teal Mask will no doubt wonder what exactly Blueberry Academy is. Those who have played The Teal Mask may have already heard of it since it is mentioned a few times, but some more information has been revealed in the buildup to the release of The Indigo Disk.

Old School Meets New School
Blueberry Academy is a schoolmuch like the one that the player attends in the main story ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet. There are a few key differences that make it seem much more exciting than Paldea’s Naranja/Uva Academy. First and foremost, it is a newer school, unlike the Paldean schools that boast a long and storied history.
Students at Blueberry Academy enjoy a curriculum that is more focused onPokemon battlingthan that of its Paldean counterpart. As such, players traveling there will have to be adequately prepared. Only players who have completed the main story ofScarlet and Violetas well as The Teal Mask will have access to the content, so the trainers found there are presumably quite strong.

Blueberry Academy is not located in Paldea. Instead, it is located somewhere in the Unova region, which some fans hope will feature in a hypotheticalremake ofPokemon Black and White. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like players will be able to explore any part of Unova since Blueberry Academy is essentially a large underwater training facility located far out at sea.
Scarlet and Violet Submerged
The aquatic location of Blueberry Academy doesn’t mean there won’t be anything to explore. Most of the school consists of a massive underwater terrarium that contains 4 artificial biomes. They will be icy, subtropical, lush, and arid, each with a variety of different Pokemon to catch. The use of biomes in The Indigo Disk as well as the baseScarlet and Violetgames has drawn somecomparisons toMinecraft, which features very similar biomes.
Several characters that the player can meet atthe underwater Blueberry Academyare currently known. It is unknown if there are more at this time. Blueberry Academy has its own Elite Four named Lacey, Crispin, Amarys, and Drayton. Whether they have dominant types like traditional Elite Four trainers is unknown. Rival characters Kieran and Carmine will make a return after the events of The Teal Mask, now on their home turf as students of Blueberry Academy.

The Tale Of Terapagos
An old acquaintance of Clavell named Cyrano serves as the director of Blueberry Academy. Only one other faculty member is known at this time; Briar, who was also introduced in The Teal Mask. It is likely that Briar will have a strong presence as the descendant of a man named Heath who led early expeditions into Area Zero and was widely discredited for his writings about his encounter withPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Terapagos.
Kieran, Carmine, and Briar don’t talk much about Blueberry Academy in The Teal Mask, it is only ever mentioned in passing. It could be that Blueberry Academy is involved in some kind of research on Paldea’s Great Crater. Briar returning to the school after getting a phone call about some or other developments in the Great Crater at the end of The Teal Mask implies as much, but no further details are known at this time.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetare available now on Nintendo Switch. The Indigo Disk DLC is set to release in Winter 2023.
