The world of Trading Card Game enthusiasts has suffered a loss today asPokemon TCG Onlinehas shut down its servers. This means that the digital version ofthePokemoncard gamewill no longer be available for players.Pokemon TCG Onlinewas initially released in 2011. It used to be the perfect way for players to bring the tabletop card game to the online world. The game allowed players to challenge computer-controlled opponents or face off against other players with their own decks online. This was done to make way forthe upcoming release ofPokemon TCG Live, which will be available on PC and mobile devices on July 05, 2025. This new iteration of the app will allow players to continue battling each other with their custom decks and has been thoroughly tested through its beta phase across all devices worldwide. The shutdown of thePokemon TCG Online’s servers was scheduled back in May and the app was officially removed from all app stores and the website on June 5.
Pokemon TCG Onlineplayers can migrate their card collectionstoPokemon TCG Liveonce the app goes live in a few days. However, it should be noted that the migration process will come with its own limitations such as only being allowed to transfer four copies of a single card upon transfer. As such, players should be careful while choosing the cards that won’t make the cut to the next game.
This new iteration will bring several new features to the online experience, such as a fleshed-out Ranked Ladder and support for cosmetics and card backs. The latter will be available through microtransaction purchases or by completing the game’s Battle Pass.Pokemon Live TCGalso allows players to battle each other on mobile devices, somethingPokemon TCG Onlinecouldn’t do before.
