Prime Video’sUpload, which boasts a Rotten Tomatoes score of 89%, has finally revealed the release date of season 4.Uploadseason 3 ended with a massive cliffhangerthat saw the real Nathan (Robbie Amell) captured by Horizen’s CEO. Because of that cliffhanger,Uploadseason 4- which is set to be the series finale - has been highly anticipated by fans.
A press release fromAmazon MGMrevealed thatUploadseason 4 will premiere on August 25 on Prime Video. Interestingly,Uploadseason 4 will only have four episodes, described as a “four-part series finale event.” Amazon MGM also released first-look images at the coming season, which can be seen below.

The press release also included a synopsis ofUploadseason 4, which hints that the fate of the entire world is up to Nathan and the rest of thecast ofUpload.
In the four-part series finale event, sentient AI rapidly turns evil, threatening to wipe out Lakeview (and the world!). On top of greedy executives, lingering mysteries, plus heartbreak in VR and IRL, our characters are tested like never before. The only way they can get through it all and save humanity from deletion is by teaming up one last time.

Evidently, the creators ofUploadare using their planned ending wisely, and have given the show and its characters a definitive conclusion. How everything plays out remains to be seen, but we at least know thatUploadseason 4 won’t end on another cliffhanger.
This announcement means that the ending ofUploadis just a month and a half away. After five years, the beloved sci-fi comedy series is coming to an end.The fact thatUploadseason 4 only has four episodes also means that the show is going to end almost as soon as it restarts. It’s not even clear if the new episodes will be hour-long installments or half-hour episodes.
Uploadseason 4’s four-episode schedule also begs the question of if it will be able to achieve all its lofty goals in such a small time. As the synopsis explained, Nathan and his friends have to save themselves and all of humanity from deletion. There are so many loose threads that it’s not clear ifUploadseason 4’s four episodes can tie them all together.
Upload’s impending series finale also means that Prime Video is losing out on an acclaimed and highly successful series. So many ofPrime Video’s best showshave ended or been canceled, andUploadis just the latest to join that list. The streamer may be looking for a new blend of science fiction and comedy to takeUpload’s place.
My first reaction to this news was pleasant surprise. It’s been over a year and a half since the ending ofUploadseason 3, and I’m glad season 4 is so close. While an 18-month wait isn’t uncommon in the streaming era, it’s still a long time to wait afterUploadseason 3’s cliffhanger ending. I’m just glad the show is back and can resolve some of its loose threads.
While an 18-month wait isn’t uncommon in the streaming era, it’s still a long time to wait after Upload season 3’s cliffhanger ending.
I also really hope thatUploadseason 4 will be capable of giving its fans the ending they deserve.Uploadis deeply beloved for a reason, and the show has such a dedicated following that I just want them to be happy with the way things play out. As long asUploadcan manage that, I think it will go down as one of Prime Video’s best shows.
