Reacher’s upcomingNeagleyspinoff will undoubtedly be a great extension of the overarching franchise’s lore, but it will still lack one thing that makes the Alan Ritchson show great. Set to release beforeReacherseason 4, theNeagleyspinoff showalready has an air of skepticism surrounding it.

While some look forward to it after watching Maria Sten’s portrayal of Frances Neagley inReacher’s three seasons, others cannot help but believe that expanding the franchise beyondLee Child’sJack Reacherbooksis a bad idea. Regardless of what one thinks, theNeagleyspinoff is exciting in more ways than one.

Only time will tell how it will turn out, but it seems to have a lot going on in its favor, especially because it expands the stories told byAmazon Prime Video’s biggest detective series. Unfortunately, despite this, it will missReacher’s biggest strength because of its hinted narrative approach.

Reacher’s Brute Strength & Sheer Size Will Be Missed In The Neagley Spinoff

Neagley Is Not As Overpowered As Reacher

Reacherseasons 2 and 3 established that, like the Alan Ritchson character, Neagley is no ordinary operative. She has impressive detective abilities and can also stand her ground against enemies even when they outnumber her. However, there is a massive difference between how Reacher and Neagley handle tough situations.

Owing to his massive stature and nearly superhuman strength,Reacher enjoys the benefit of muscling his way through nearly every confrontation. Villains like Paulie forced him to use both brain and brawn, but even to beat Paulie, Reacher did rely a lot on raw power and physicality.

Unlike Reacher, however, Neagley does not particularly stand out because of her size or strength. She is undoubtedly far stronger than regular civilians and even trained operatives, but she relies more on her presence of mind and intelligence to overpower her enemies.

Neagley’s grounded and conventional approach to handling conflict is also fun to watch, but it lacks the larger-than-life spectacle and heart-pounding chaos that defineReacher’s action scenes.

For instance, even inReacherseason 3, she set up well-calculated traps for the bad guys when they broke into her office and ultimately shot them dead. Neagley’s grounded and conventional approach to handling conflict is also fun to watch, but it lacks the larger-than-life spectacle and heart-pounding chaos that defineReacher’s action scenes.

Thankfully, The Neagley Spinoff Will Feature Alan Ritchson In Some Capacity

Alan Ritchson’s Return Has Been Confirmed In The Spinoff

Even though theNeagleyspinoff will primarily revolve around the Maria Sten character,Alan Ritchson is set to return as Jack Reacher in the series.Behind-the-scenes footage from Neagleyhas confirmed Ritchson’s return, but the capacity of his role remains unknown.

While only time will tell whether viewers will get to see Jack Reacher beat up some bad guys in the upcoming spinoff, it is comforting to know that he will have a role to play inNeagley.Having too much of Reacher could potentially harm the spinoffand prevent it from etching its own identity.

However, it is still hard not to hope that Alan Ritchson will at least be a part of one major action sequence inReacher’sNeagleyspinoff, which would remind viewers why they fell in love with the overarching franchise in the first place. His carefully balanced cameo in the spinoff could also get viewers more hyped forReacherseason 4.
