The first issue reintroduces the character Brad Jones, who previously appeared in the miniseriesThe Suicide BlondeandYour Ride’s Here, as he returns from space with anew group of alien charactersin tow, who hail “from Harry’s home planet,” according to the synopsis forThe Book of Changes#1.

Notably, the cover forThe Book of Changes#1 is an updated version of the cover for the very first issue ofResident Alien. The original version featured Vanderspeigle, in his alien form, seated at a table in a diner with two human characters, as a waitress takes their order. The new cover features aliens in place of humans.

The clothes are the same, but the characters are extraterrestrials, with an extra alien added in the background for good measure. Further, an “S” is amended to the title, rendering itResident Aliens, highlighting how much the series has developed since it began over a decade ago, and hinting at the direction this latest story arc will take.
