Warning: Spoilers ahead forResident Alienseason 4, episode 6, “Soul Providers.“Resident Alienseason 4 has already introduced and dispensed with a great new character, but the reason they stood out is only clear after episode 6, “Soul Providers.” While their stay among theResident Aliencastwas only brief, they made a surprisingly big impact on the larger story and cryptically foreshadowed the biggest reveal in “Soul Providers.”

The character to which I’m referring is Jinkx Monsoon’s Bruce. The death of Bruce inResident Alienseason 4, episode 2, “The Lonely Man,” felt like an exit that came far too soon for such an interesting ally toAlan Tudyk’s Harry Vanderspeigle. However,Bruce’s importance has ballooned from beyond the grave.

Bruce Having Grown A Soul Like Harry Would Explain Why He Wasn’t Like The Other Grey Aliens

Jinkx Monsoon’s Resident Alien character loved human culture

Resident Alienseason 4, episode 6, confirms the canonical existence of souls, but with the stipulation that it’s typically only humans who have them. So,it’s something of a surprise that Harry has grown a soul, as it proves that it is possible for other races to do the same. The show never revealed whether Bruce had a soul, but it’d make sense.

Bruce was very different from other members of his species. His mannerisms and overall demeanor made him stand out from the other Greys, as well as his affinity for all things Earth. The Greys are typically cold villainswith little concern beyond harvesting souls from babies and trying to take over the world.

Just like Bruce, Harry is a unique member of his species because he has emotions, and having grown a soul has been revealed as the reason why Harry is so different.

Just like Bruce, Harry is a unique member of his species because he has emotions, and having grown a soul has been revealed as the reason why Harry is so different. So,it stands to reason that Bruce also grew a soul, and probably because he immersed himself in human culture.

Bruce Is A Way More Important Character After “Soul Providers,” Despite Being Dead

The Greys can be neutralized

Barring some sort of miraculous resurrection,Bruce’s death means he can no longer have a direct impact onResident Alienseason 4’s plot. That being said, his very existence may have already done enough to reveal how the ongoing conflict between his race and Earth will end once and for all, and without bloodshed.

If Bruce had a soul, that means it’s possible the other Greys could grow one as well. This possibility is reinforced by the fact that Harry did it too. If so, then the villainous race could become easier to communicate with, and they may realize the error of their ways.

With the Greys still the show’s over-arching antagonists, this could be the storyline required to end the show for good. Although they’ve varied in prominence throughout all four seasons, their apparent lack of emotion has made them greatResident Alienbad guys, but that may not continue if they start to regret what they’ve done.
