Warning: Spoilers ahead forResident Alienseason 4, episode 7, “Daddy Issues.“Resident Alienseason 4, episode 7, “Daddy Issues,” ends with the show’s main character returning to his original form, foreshadowing the return of another figure who left the story far too soon after a recent comeback. After being stuck as a human for most ofResident Alienseason 4, “Daddy Issues” finally sawAlan Tudyk’s Harry Vanderpeiglebecome an extraterrestrial once more.

While he has remained at the center of theResident Aliencast, Tudyk’s role has been a little different so far this season. However, now thatHarry has regained his alien energy, he’s back at full power for season 4’s final installments. At the same time, his recent transformation means he will surely soon be rejoined by another ofResident Alien’s best characters.

Heather’s Return In “Ties That Bind” Was Over Far Too Soon

Edi Patterson’s Resident Alien comeback only lasted 1 full episode

Edi Patterson only appeared as Heather in four of the eight episodes that made upResident Alienseason 3, but she made an immediate impact when she debuted in episode 3, “141 Seconds.” As Harry’s first real love interest, it was both hilarious and heartwarming to watch them interact. So, it was disappointing when the story necessitated her exit in episode 6, “Bye Bye Birdie.”

I was very excited when Heather returned at the end ofResident Alienseason 4, episode 2, “Ties That Bind.”

I was very excited when Heather returned at the end ofResident Alienseason 4, episode 2, “Ties That Bind,” and that she stuck around for the entirety of the following installment. Sadly, the show failed to give her much time with Harryand sent her packing again at the end of episode 3, “Truth Hurts.”

Harry Becoming Alien Again In “Daddy Issues” Sets Up A Proper Return For Heather

Resident Alien’s most irreverent couple can be together again

The reveal thatHeather had given birth to Harry’s children during their time apartwas a great twist that initially seemed to set up their long-term future. Unfortunately, Harry being stuck in human form at the time meant the two characters were no longer compatible, and Heather’s father also made his feelings known about the union in a hilarious scene that triggered their break-up.

Whileit initially seemed confusing thatResident Alienwould bring Heather and the babies backinto the story for such a brief period, it makes so much more sense now. Harry being an alien again means that the thing that was keeping him from marrying Heather is no longer an issue. Therefore, it stands to reason that they’ll be reunited soon.

There’s Still Something In The Way Of Harry & Heather’s Happy Ending

The Mantid is still at large (& Harry needs to handle it)

Resident Alienseason 4 fooled everyone by having Heather kill the Mantidwhen she came back, as the nefarious insectoid was primed to be the show’s next big villain. Thankfully, showrunner Chris Sheridan brought the Mantid back from the dead to fulfill its potential as a great bad guy. Currently being played byFireflystar Jewel Staite, the Mantid is indirectly keeping Harry from his beloved.

Harry still has an active bargain with the Galactic Housing Council, so he owes them a dead Mantid before he’s allowed to return to his “regular” life. So, if Tudyk’s character doesn’t or can’t kill the Mantid, he’ll be taken into custody. It’s even possible the Mantid will kill Harry during their upcoming fight, but I don’t foreseeResident Alienkilling off its main character.
