Without a doubt, there are a plethora of fun, unofficial projects out there that allow folks to experience their favorite titles in new ways, and fan creations for Capcom’s popular survival-horror releaseResident Evil 4is certainly no exception. While some err more on the side of lighthearted, such as one piece of work that turnedRE4into adating sim, there’s also more useful projects such as the ongoing mod being put together that will improve the game’s lighting, textures, and overall visuals.
Calling it theResident Evil 4HD Project, the mod’s creator known simply as “Albert” has recently offered an update regarding the work-in-progress, with the latest refinements focusing on lighting and changes to the game’s Island area. Interested parties can get a look at “how the dynamic lighting looks now on enemies with torches and crossbows, along with some extra improvements” in the two videos found directly below.
Some might be quick to point out that the official high definition re-release ofResident Evil 4already provided players with some improved visuals, but many have gone on to admit that it didn’t pack quite the punch that they initially expected, hence the reason for theHD Projectcoming to fruition. As of now, the fan project has been in development for several years, and seeing how far its come is decidedly impressive.
While one can only hope that theResident Evil 4HD Project will finally be finished at some point in the near future, lots of other fans waiting on its completion will also be keeping their eyes peeled for news from Capcom regarding its official remake of the second entry in the survival horror franchise. While it has been quite some time since the publisher and developer offered any information about the project,Resident Evil 2’soriginal director Hideki Kamiya has expressed faith in the remake, which undoubtedly has instilled a sense of trust in the series' innumerable fans.
