Even though theResident Evil 3remake has yet to release, rumors have still been flying about what’s next for Capcom’s survival-horror franchise. Whether or not any of these rumors can be believed remains to be seen, but some have come from traditionally reliable sources. AestheticGamer, for example, has accurately leakedResident Evilnews in the past, so fans may want to pay a bit more attention to what they have to say versus other random leakers.

According to AestheticGamer,Resident Evilis once again redesigning the look of series protagonist Chris Redfield. This has led to speculation that new version of Chris may appear in theResident Evil 3remake. Alternatively, Capcom has invitedResident EvilAmbassadors to test a new game, so maybe the new Chris will appear in that game instead. A newResident Evilgame that’s notRE8is rumored to be releasing in 2021, so perhaps it’s all connected.

Whatever the case may be, this far from the first time that Capcom has given Chris Redfield a new look. From the originalResident EviltoCode: Veronica, his appearance changed dramatically. Then fromCode: VeronicatoResident Evil 5, his looks changed yet again, going from a normal-sized human to a massive, muscular man capable of punching boulders. The newest version of Chris, as seen inResident Evil 7and its DLC, is back to a more realistic design, though he still looks quite different from his original look.

Considering how many times Capcom has changedChris Redfield’s appearanceover the years, it’s not surprising that it is apparently doing so again. However, fans should wait for an official reveal before they get too excited or concerned. A lot can happen during game development, and it’s possible that Chris Redfield’s redesigned look will be scrapped, if it even exists at all. We’ll just have to wait for more information on futureResident Evilgame projects to know for sure.
