Resident Evil Revelationsis coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this fall,Capcomannounced. The publisher confirmed it will release both physical and digital editions of the game across North America and Europe.

Resident Evil Revelationswas originally a Nintendo 3DS title, first released in January 2012. Capcom then created an HD version of the game when it was ported to PC, PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360 in 2013. Now, gamers can likely expect another visual upgrade as the horror title moves to its 6th and 7th platforms.

Resident Evil Revelationstakes place in between the events ofResident Evil 4andResident Evil 5with franchise veterans Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield taking the lead. The game’s original3DS version was warmly receivedby most critics due to its unique use of the 3DS controls and tech but the 2013 HD ports received more middling reviews.

In addition to the visual upgrade, the HD ports also added improved lighting, a new difficulty mode, and new playable characters so one would imagine that Capcom might have a couple more additions up its sleeve for the PS4 and Xbox One ports this fall. We’re just speculating but support for 4K or HDR on the PlayStation 4 Pro orProject Scorpiowould be a nice touch.

Strangely, this game will arrive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One after its sequel,Resident Evil Revelations 2,skipped the 3DS and came out on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 in 2015. However, the move makes sense consideringRevelations 2wasn’t as well received as its predecessor.

If we had to speculate as to why Capcom is making this move now, it might have something to do withResident Evil 7reinvigorating the franchise earlier this year. Not long ago the franchise was struggling to stay in fans' good graces, but nowResidentEvilis at a new high.
