Marvel’s Deadpool VRwill let players virtually step inside the shoes of the Merc with a Mouth, but the voice that comes along with him won’t be the one that fans of the Marvel films will be used to. ActorNeil Patrick Harris will be playing Deadpoolin the new game, and now, the original (and current) live-actionDeadpoolactor, Ryan Reynolds, has posted a “reaction” to the news that he has been “replaced” in the role for the game.

In a video posted to YouTube byRyan Reynolds, the filmDeadpoolactorhilariously reacts to Harris taking on the role for Marvel’s Deadpool VR. The one-minute-twenty-five-second video focuses on a doctor, Reynolds, typing away his frustrations at being replaced at his computer, with the document named,“Personal Journal of Steal Patrick Fartface,“and a lot of subsequent crude jokes.

Ryan Reynolds Reacts To Deadpool VR In New Video

Two Legendary Actors Playing The Same Character

The video opens with “Doctor” Reynolds writing:“People who steal your signature role are the biggest buttholes of all.“AMeta Quest 3is shown, with Reynolds sighing when he sees it on the shelf. He then writes that he doesn’t blame Meta Quest for casting Harris, and then says:“Neil Patrick Harris is an amazing actor with the nurturing voice of an angel,“before commenting that he hasn’t hit puberty yet and still realizes that he is not being treated appropriately.

The second half of the video is a conversation between “Doctor” Reynolds and his girlfriend, before switching to the high-speed, bloody, violent gameplay ofMarvel’s Deadpool VR. The video ends with a joke that Reynolds' girlfriend is actually his sister-in-law.The video is appropriately metafor both the Reynolds Deadpool and the game, being a VR game in which Harris actively acknowledges players get to control Deadpool as themselves.

Our Take: It’s Great To See Reynolds' Sense Of Humor For New Deadpool Actor

Two Versions Of A Great Character

It probably isn’t a stretch to sayDeadpool is one of the most important roles Reynolds has ever had, and he has a deep passion for the character, having recently been credited as a writer forDeadpool & Wolverine. There was discussion at some point aboutwhether to kill off Deadpool in the film, but Deadpool will be returning in an upcoming fourthDeadpoolfilm, and has been hinted to make an appearance inAvengers: Doomsday, too, so this isn’t a “replacement” for the character and more of an expansion of the character past the films.

It’s great to see actors (and artists in general) supporting other actors, and Harris seems to be getting the metaphorical stamp of approval from Reynolds. Only time will tell how fans respond to this new version of the character whenMarvel’s Deadpool VRlaunches later this year exclusively on Meta Quest 3.
