Why Sekiro: No Defeat Is Already Such An Ambitious Anime

It cannot be understated how monumental it is thatSekiro: No Defeatis fully hand-drawn. Ever since the 2000s, the vast majority of anime have been made using digital techniques.

One of the last anime series to still use hand-drawn techniques wasthe longest-running anime in history,Sazae-Chan, but even that series switched to digital in the mid-2010s.

Though no word has been given about whySekirois being hand-drawn, the results speak for themselves. The trailer forNo Defeatfeatures the kind of fluid animation that conveys sword combat beautifully.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twiceranks among the greatest action games of all time, and with any luck,Sekiro: No Defeatwill be held up as one of thebest samurai anime ever.
