While the main story inClair Obscur: Expedition 33is one of the most compelling I’ve seen in a long time, there is so much more depth to each character that is only visible through advancing each of their relationships to the maximum level. you’re able to build relationships with nearly all the main characters inClair Obscur, but when it comes to romantic relationships, your options are much more limited. You can only romance one character in a single playthrough, though there aren’t any major consequences or rewards for doing so - this is purely a roleplaying decision.
WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR CLAIR OBSCUR: EXPEDITION 33!Increasingrelationships inClair Obscuris essential for unlocking each playable character’s best skills and even new exploration abilities. As you enter Act 2 and unlock Verso, you can have conversations with the characters back at camp with the option to spend time alone with them one-on-one. In the case of both Lune and Sciel, you will have the unique option to romance them through conversation, but you can only romance one of them during a single playthrough. If you have no interest in romance, you won’t be missing anything aside from dialogue by rejecting both of them.

What Happens If You Romance Sciel In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?
Sciel’s Romance Options Are Available Earlier
Sciel and Verso’s relationship can be increased up to Level 4 to access her romance options, in which case she starts to seduce Verso. He doesn’t quite get the hint at first, but soon realizes thatSciel is trying to take things to the next level(literally). If you accept Sciel’s proposal, there will be a few different interactions where Verso and she are able to spend intimate time together.
Romantic scenes inClair Obscurdo not show any X-rated interactions, such as the sort you might find inBaldur’s Gate 3, but the subtitles will describe their time together.

Importantly, if you decide to accept Sciel’s invitation to be more than just friends, you will no longer be able to romance Lune in Act 3.Remember, there are no additional rewards or consequences in terms of gameplay regardless of who you choose, and you can always opt to romance the other character in yourNG+ run ofClair Obscur.Sciel’s storyline will play out the same way as well, there just won’t be any intimate dialogue involved if you don’t romance her.
Sciel and Verso’s relationship is mostly about having fun, though it’s implied Verso may not be able to keep his feelings out of it. Verso teaches Sciel to swim, and conveniently has a swimsuit for both himself and Sciel stashed away in case of any swimming emergencies. Eventually (without giving too much away),Sciel learns something that changes her perspective on the situation, and she no longer feels it prudent to carry on with Verso in a romantic way. They do spend one last night together, but Verso ends up alone in the end.

What Happens When You Romance Lune In Clair Obscur?
You Have To Reject Sciel In Order To Romance Lune
If you would rather romanceLune inClair Obscur, it won’t be immediately clear that it’s even possible until you reach Act 3 and advance her relationship to Level 6 and complete her side quest. Sciel is nothing if not persistent, andyou need to reject her advances at relationship Levels 4 and 5in order to make things more serious with Lune when you increase hers to Level 7. To spend time alone with Lune in a romantic way, you need to reach Level 5 in their relationship, and Lune will sneak a kiss on Verso’s cheek.
Lune will kiss Verso on the cheek whether you romanced Sciel or not, but it won’t go any farther than this if you’re romantically involved with Sciel already.

Unlike Sciel, there’s a required side quest to reach Level 7 in your relationship with Lune. Verso points you to Sirene’s Dress, a location just outside the Sirene Axon area from Act 2. Lune’s parents were part of Expedition 46, and, thanks to Verso,Lune learns Sirene’s Dress was her parents' last known location. You’ll have to fight the Chromatic Glissando enemy here, and it can be pretty annoying if you aren’t properly leveled up, so you might want to wait on this one. Either way, once Lune listens to the journal, you may head back to camp.
Lune has a lot of complicated emotions towards her parents, and Verso hears her out and even provides some great insight, possibly helping Lune come to terms with how things ended up with her family. After speaking with Lune again next to the campfire, Verso inquires about what she’s working on in her journal, only to find she is writing a song. If you don’t romance Sciel,Verso will be able to go"work on the song" together with Lune in private.

You Should Romance Lune In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Both Are Interesting, But Lune’s Seems Like A Better Choice For Verso
Romances inClair Obscurare purely about roleplay, and there are no gameplay benefits for choosing Sciel, Lune, or not choosing either one. You’ll be able to advance both characters' relationship levels to 7 and experience their core background story either way, sothe choice comes down towhich relationship seems like a better option for Verso, Lune, and Sciel as characters. Sciel’s relationship with Verso is rooted in escapism, and while there is a surface-level connection between the two, Sciel will always be in love with her husband.
In Act 3, she finds hope that she could someday see her husband again, and at this point Verso is no longer on her mind in a romantic way. Verso is left high and dry with Sciel, even though it seems he may have been interested in a serious and more emotional relationship.Verso and Sciel are better off as friends, which they even admit in the end, and for that reason I think the better option is to pursue Lune.

Lune’s romance is rooted in a deeper, more emotional connection between the two characters, one rooted in a bond over their passion: music. Verso and Lune experienced similar issues with their parents having unreasonable expectations for them, driving them to pursue things they weren’t particularly interested in as much as music. They share a deeper bond that is rooted in something more meaningful than escaping the moment, and their romance is an overall healthier one for both characters involved. I’d recommend romancing Lune inClair Obscur: Expedition 33because the bond between her and Verso is stronger.
