The advanced synopsis forSpider-Man ‘94#2, from the creative team of J.M. DeMatteis and Jim Towe,heralds the arrival of Morlun, and teases his mysterious “connection” to the Spider-clone Kaine.

The series, which is a direct continuation of the beloved ‘90sSpider-Mancartoon, kicks off in September, and features the debut of several of the Webslinger’s villains, including Kaine.

The preview forSpider-Man ‘94#2 makes it clear that the first issue of the series will involve a brawl with Kaine. The cover for the issue depicts Spider-Man trapped in a web, with Kaine looming in the background. The question iswhether the synopsis spoils the reveal that Morlun will also debut inSpider-Man ‘94#1. It reads in full:

Notably, the synopsis forSpider-Man ‘94#1 promises “two of Spider-Man’s greatest villains from the comics” will make their first entrance intoThe Animated Seriescontinuity. Though Morlun might not have the mainstreamname recognition of Doc Ock or Green Goblin, yet,he has certainly put himself in contention with them for “greatest villain” status.
Most notably,Morlun is the villain of the originalSpider-Versecomic crossover; he is a major threat to all theSpider-heroes of the Marvel Multiverse, and as such, his appearance is the latest indication of howSpider-Man ‘94is going to follow-up on the iconicAnimated Seriesfinale, which introduced the “Spider-Verse” concept.
