With the world premiere ofStar Wars: The Last Jediset for next week, EA chose an appropriate time to reveal the trailer forStar Wars: Battlefront 2’sLast JediDLC. The trailer, which appears to focus on the rivalry between Finn and Captain Phasma, is highly reminiscent of the movie trailer itself. This DLC is free for all players beginning December 13.

The trailer opens with a battle between the Resistance and the First Order – the very same battle seen in the movie trailer. This battle dominates the trailer until an onscreen message occurs: “Iden’s story continues.” The following voiceover states: “If we could learn how powerful the First Order really is, then the Resistance might have a chance.” This statement may hint at the content of the DLC.

Following the aforementioned statement, the trailer ends with a new look atStar Wars: Battlefront 2’sprotagonist: Iden Versio. Older now, the trailer reveals a transmission between her and General Leia. See the trailer here:

It makes sense that the trailer focuses on Finn and Captain Phasma since they are the two charactersjoining the game. While this trailer doesn’t really show Captain Phasma’s abilities, she plays like heavy heroes such as Chewbacca. Finn’s and Phasma’s inclusion also relates to the overall season where players must choose between the Resistance and the First Order.

The fact this DLC is free may soothe some still disgruntled players. It is no secret thatStar Wars: Battlefront 2did not receive its expected welcome, but hopefully, the game’s popularity with increase with the inclusion of this DLC season.ConsideringBattlefront 2’s sales were downcompared to the previousStar Wars: Battlefront, it appears EA may be attempting to bolster promotions and sales.

While it seems unlikely this DLC will bring the majority ofBattlefront’sfandom back, it is a step in the right direction. When coupled withthe possibility that microtransactions will not return,it may be enough to convince gamers to pick up a copy for those who have not yet.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
