Just in time forThe Mandalorian and Grogu,Star Warshas learned from a majorGrogumistake inThe Mandalorianseason 3. AlthoughThe Mandaloriancontinues to (rightfully) be seen as one ofStar Wars’best TV shows, perhaps eclipsed only byAndor, it’s true that the third and most recent season was the show’s weakest.
It is therefore the perfect time to transition the show to the big screen, capitalizing on its popularity while also deviating from what recently didn’t work.Star Warsis evidently taking full advantage of this opportunity, asThe Mandalorian and Groguis primed to fix a serious Grogu mistake fromThe Mandalorian.

Footage fromThe Mandalorian and Grogu, revealed during D23 earlier this year, confirmed that Grogu will be battlinga mouse droidin the movie. Compared to what we have seen him do thus far, this is a much more appropriate adversary for Grogu to be fighting, based on his age (relative to his species) and his skill level.
This is particularly notable givenThe Mandalorianseason 3. In that season, Grogu faces off against Praetorian Guards and lives to tell the tale, which is very impressive if not a bit difficult to believe. Grogu is a Force-user and a member ofYoda’s species(of which there have only been three characters on screen, all Force-sensitive), yes.

However, we’ve seen considerably more formidable Force-users go toe-to-toe with Praetorian Guards and struggle, such as Rey and Kylo Ren in the sequel trilogy, making it more than a little surprising that Grogu held his own against them. This is therefore a positive update onThe Mandalorian and Grogu, and it promisingly reflects greater awareness onStar Wars’part.
Star Wars Is Adjusting Grogu’s Abilities To A More Appropriate Level
Moving from Grogu fighting multiple Praetorian Guards on his own inThe Mandalorianto taking on a mouse droid inThe Mandalorian and Groguseems to reflect a good faith effort byStar Warsto be more realistic about Grogu’s power level, which is ultimately a good thing.
Grogu is certainly powerful, but it’s just not reasonable to see him taking on major villains in his upcoming appearance. For one, Grogu is still a child. For another, while he did receive some training from Luke Skywalker inThe Book of Boba Fett, it was minimal.

Star Warsmay also be taking note of how often audiences complain about characters being ‘overpowered’ and is being more mindful of that now. We will surely see Grogu accomplishing a number of impressive feats inThe Mandalorian and Grogu, but they will seemingly be more appropriate for his skill level than inThe Mandalorian.
