It was an absolutely massive day for Nintendo Switch announcements, with today’s Nintendo Direct offering up a ton of awesome new ports and other news. However, one of the weirdest announcements to come out of the Direct, and arguably one of the coolest, is thatStar Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcastis headed to the Nintendo Switch - and fans will be able to play it soon.
Jedi Knight IIwill be headed to the Switch on September 24th this year, meaning fans have just a few weeks to wait before they can run around slicing up Storm Troopers as Kyle Katarn. For those unfamiliar with the game, it’s most well known for having some of the best lightsaber combat in theStar Warsfranchise. Graphically, it will still show its age, but it should still prove to be a wonderful experience nonetheless. It’s even considered one of thebest games in theStar WarsFranchise.

Nintendo’s announcement didn’t say whether or not the game would ship with cheats though, which would be a disappointing omission. The game originally featured “realistic combat” cheats on PC, which would allow players to chop off their enemy’s limbs. However, givenDisney’s stance against dismemberment, which won’t even be present inStar Wars: Fallen Order,it seems unlikely that it will be in the port. Still, one can dream.

Jedi Outcastis just one of the major announcements that Nintendo made during Wednesday’s Direct. The system will also be seeing other ports make their way to the hybrid console in the coming months, includingAssassin’s Creed: The Rebel Collection,anda port ofOverwatch. While those two games had leaked leading up to the announcements,Jedi Knight IIis still a wonderful surprise for the system, and one fans ofStar Warsshould be sure to check out.
The question now is what other games Nintendo could potentially be hiding up its sleeves. With a game likeStar WarsJedi Knight IIbeing added, the possibilities are pretty much endless. Nintendo seems to have opened up the floodgates for Switch ports, which is great news for those looking to replay older games while on the go.
