Star Wars’upcoming TV show,Star Wars: Visionsseason 3, will make yet another return to Tatooine, the planet that in many ways started it all inStar Wars. When Tatooine was introduced inA New Hope, it seemed like a distant, barren planet of little significance, which was a key aspect of Luke Skywalker’s story.

He was meant to represent the Everyman Hero and be ‘from nowhere,’ to exemplify how the greatest heroes can come from anywhere. Of course, that ultimately changed considerably in light of howthe Skywalker family treedeveloped. Likewise, Tatooine became considerably more important and has since reappeared many times—now,Visionsseason 3 will return to Tatooine yet again.

Star Wars: Visions Is Heading Back To Tatooine

Among the manyreveals at Star Wars Celebration 2025were specific details aboutVisionsseason 3, including episode titles and basic information on what these episodes might entail, story-wise. Among those episodes was"Yuko’s Treasure,” in which, among other things, titular character Yuko has crashed on Tatooine.

Specifically, Billy can be seen assisting Yuko after she crashed her speeder and was being yelled at by Jawas in Mos Eisley. This therefore represents the most recent in a long line of returns to Tatooine inStar Warsmovies and TV shows. SinceA New Hope, in fact, this planet has become a focal point.

To name just a few shows and movies in which Tatooine appears,Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menaceconfirmed that this had once been Anakin’s home planet as well, and Tatooine was then shown to some degree in all three prequel movies.

In terms of TV shows, Tatooine has been shown in live-action inObi-Wan KenobiandThe Book of Boba Fettand in animation in shows likeStar Wars Rebels. It has been surprising, given Tatooine’s original meaning and role inStar Wars,to see it so often, but clearly this isn’t an insignificant planet at all.

Visionswill presumably add to that history, although with one important distinction.

Why Visions' Tatooine Return Isn’t A Problem For Star Wars

While there may be concern thatVisionswill change Tatooine too much or have too big an influence on its role in the galaxy, there’s no real danger of that, asVisionsis not canon. Rather, this return to Tatooine will reflect an interpretation inspired by the Skywalker Sagabut will not be part ofthe canonStar Warstimeline.

This is particularly exciting, as it freesVisionsto explore what this planet could be outside the confines of canon. WhetherVisionswill make significant changes to the planet remains to be seen, but this will be yet another fascinating return to Tatooine, a planet that was meant to be ‘nowhere’ but has become so much more inStar Wars.
