An Order 66 survivor, Grandea abandoned her Jedi training and fled into the galaxy, focusing onmastering the Jedi Mind Trick to the exclusion of all other Force skills.
With her survival and description known to the Empire, Grandea relied on the Jedi Mind Trick to stay alive, pushing the ability to its limits. She evensought out species like the Hutts and Toydarians, who are usually immune to the ability, to hone her craft. Not only was she successful in doing so, but Grandea’s mastery of the Jedi Mind Trick was so strong, it saved her from Darth Vader and his Inquisitors.

This Master of Mental Warfare Is Ready to Appear in Future Stories
In the issue, Grandea explains her story to Kylo Ren, revealing that the Inquisitors eventually tracked her down. However, Grandea’s Jedi Mind Trick control was now so powerful, she was able to convince the Inquisitors they’d killed her, leaving so little doubt in their minds thateven Darth Vader couldn’t sense anything amiss, accepting their report that she had been killed and her body burned to ash.
Since then - and even after Palpatine’s death - Grandea has lived a secretive life hidden on the fringes of the galaxy. While Kylo Ren seeks her out to fight a Jedi and hone himself asDarth Vader did before him, his mission is frustrated whenGrandea immediately infiltrates his mind, making him believe he’s killed her before vanishing from sight. Her telepathic control is so powerful, she’s able to drag Kylo Ren’s memories to the surface, destabilizing him by claiming Luke Skywalker has died without his knowledge.
Grandea argues that the Jedi have always under-valued the Mind Trick, saying that it’s no ‘trick’ but a sophisticated and powerful ability that can be mastered far beyond what almost any Jedi has imagined. Her story is a fascinating example ofOrder 66 warping a Jediinto something new, as Grandea abandons all her training to focus exclusively on a seemingly minor ability, turning it into a secret weapon that saves her from both VaderandKylo Ren.
