Star Warsis setting up the debut of a brand-new lightsaber type, one that very much brings to mind theGod of Wargames. Every so often, theStar Warsgalaxy unveils some kind of new lightsaber/combat form. However, this latest lightsaber type is debuting in a very unlikely piece ofStar Warsmedia.

Disney+ is set to releaseStar Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy - Pieces of the Past, continuing the adventures of Sig and Dev Greebling as theStar Warsgalaxy they know is rebuilt brick by brick.Additionally, a brand-new character has been announced, wielding a unique pair of lightsabers that should be fascinating to see in action. After all, new lightsaber types usually require specific forms to compensate for their unique features.

Star Wars Just Set Up A Brand New Lightsaber Type

Rebuild The Galaxy’s Solitus Will Wield Two Lightsabers Connected By A Chain

First pointed out by@sw_holocron on Twitter/X,Rebuild the Galaxy’supcoming newcomer will be wielding twin purple-bladed lightsabers connected by a chain. A Fallen Jedi named Solitus, the apparent villain ofPieces of the Pastwill be voiced by actor Dan Stevens. It’s also been revealed that he was the former master of Jedi Master Bobarian Afol aka “Jedi Bob” (Bobby Moynihan).

Solitus has never been featured in the primaryStar Warscanon. Instead, he’s a brand-new character created for the non-canonical LEGO series, like the Greeblings. Regardless, it’s also worth noting that this unique pair of connected lightsabers has never really been seen before in theStar Warsfranchise. The closest real-life weapon it resembles is the Japanese kusarigama, though that’s typically two sickles connected by a chain rather than blades.

I’m Desperate To See Star Wars' New Lightsaber Type In Canon

Will They Be Like Kratos' Blades of Chaos?

Even more than kusarigama, Solitus' new lightsabers bring Kratos' Blades of Chaos to mind from theGod of Warvideo game franchise. Admittedly,Kratos Blades aren’t connected together like Solitus' lightsabers. Instead, they’re chained separately to each of his arms.

Even so, I wonder if we might still see a similar combat style and unique form where Solitus uses the Force and the chain to similarly attack his foes in some pretty intense and unpredictable ways. Obviously, a LEGO special likeRebuild the Galaxyisn’t canon, though Solitus and his lightsabers do have me pretty excited all the same.

Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy - Pieces of the Pastbegins streaming September 19th on Disney+.
