The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2was definitely one of the most surprising announcements of E3 2019, and it has leftZeldafans buzzing about the possibilities. Some think that the images in the trailer hint atco-op and a playable Zelda, whereas others have been going a bit deeper, going as far as playing the trailer in reverse in search of clues. This method is how one popular theory has started making the rounds, that the villain Zant fromTwilight Princesswill play a role inBreath of the Wild 2.
Zeldafans have been playing the music fromTheLegend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2trailer backwards, discovering that some of the notes actually seem to play part of the game over theme from the originalZeldaon the NES. However, other notes appear to be lifted from some of Zant’s music inTwilight Princess, which some have taken as a hint that he will be returning inBreath of the Wild 2in some capacity.
Listen to the music and compare:
The theory stems from a post on Reddit by user ReroFunk. ReroFunk offers up the possibility that the zombified creature we see in theBreath of the Wild 2traileris none other than Zant, or that the hand reviving the creature is Zant’s. Not only does ReroFunk offer the similar music as evidence, but he also points to the pose that the zombified creature makes in the trailer, which is a similar pose that Zant does inTwilight Princess.
Beyond the possibility 0f Zant being inBreath of the Wild 2, ReroFunk has noted some other potential connections toTwilight Princess. The green light that appears in the trailer is reminiscent of the Twilight Realm, plus the markings in the trailer look like symbols that are seen inTwilight Princessas well.
Since we know so little aboutThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2at this point, it’s hard to say if this theory is accurate. However, it’s hard to deny that the evidence is compelling, and it will be interesting to see if there are even more secrets hidden in theBreath of the Wild 2announcement trailer.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2is in development exclusively for the Switch.
