The Night Agentseason 3 might be fixing one of season 2’s biggest problems, but not in the right way.The Night Agentseason 2’s endingand the season as a wholereceived far more mixed responsesthan the premiere run, with many of the narrative elements and new characters not working as well.

Another common critique from audiences was focused on Rose, Peter Sutherland’s main will-they-won’t-they love interest/computer hacking expert, who was integral to season 1. Season 2 received criticism for the handling of her character, with her motives constantly fluctuating and her presence feeling generally out of place.

Peter & Rose’s Dynamic Was Season 2’s Biggest Letdown

Peter & Rose Were Fantastic Together In Season 1

After being fantastic inThe Night Agentseason 1, Peter and Rose’s dynamic wasn’t as effective in season 2.With no training for a top-secret Night Action mission, it felt strange seeing her constantly involved with dangerous missionslike the infiltration of the Iranian Embassy.

More importantly, after all the character development in season 1, Peter and Rose barely made any headway in season 2. The writing constantly pushed them away from each other in ways they had already seemingly moved past in the first run, ultimately bringing them to a similar end result.

The Night Agent Can’t Give Up On Rose Just Yet

Rose Needs To Make A Comeback

Despite Rose’s character not working well in season 2, that’s not the fault of actress Luciane Buchanan. Her part was integral to season 1’s success, and it was far too early to cast her out. There were plenty of ways to make her character work, including a time jump between seasons that would allow her to gain the proper training.

Her part was integral to season 1’s success, and it was far too early to cast her out.

I still have hope she’ll appear again toward the end of the season, having accomplished the aforementioned goal. This would allow her and Peter to work together more candidly going forward inThe Night Agent’sfuture seasons, with her fully realizing her place within Night Action.
