64-bit PCs and Metal-Macs only

Electronic Arts has some bad news for anybody who is enjoying the petite universe ofThe Sims 4on a 32-bit PC platform. From June 2019, 32-bit rigs and non-metal Macs will no longer be supported by Maxis’ world-building sequel.

The Sims 4will still be playable on 32-bit platforms, but only in a separate “Legacy” edition. This will remove all online options in-game and will only work with expansions and updates released prior to February 2019. This edition will receive no further updates or bug fixes going forward.

64-bit PCs and Metal Macs will continue to operate as standard. The decision has been made as a way to increase development options and optimise game performance going forward, especially on Mac, where the reduction in Open GL visuals (as of macOS Mojave) has made this ultimatum necessary. you may find out more info over at theofficialSimscommunity forums.

The Sims 4is available now on PC, Mac, PS4 and Xbox One.
