The Walking Deadcan’t miss out on introducing this long-awaited comic character now, after it was confirmed they won’t be showing up anytime soon. Up throughThe Walking Deadseries finale, the franchise’s main characters were experiencingevents pulled directly from Robert Kirkman’s original comic series. The Walking Dead’s spinoffssince have been embracing original stories involving legacy characters.
As new stories likeDead City,Daryl Dixon, andThe Ones Who Livehave played out,the adaptation has drifted further and further away from the original comic storyline. However, there are still some elements that have yet to be introduced. This includes aWalking Deadcharacterthat can still appear in the future, even if it’s much later.

Jeffrey Is Rick’s Brother In The Comic Series
One comic character that has yet to appear in the franchise isRick Grimes' brother, Jeffrey. In the comic series, he’s briefly mentioned by Rick early into the story. Later, he starred in a one-shot titledThe Walking Dead: The Alien, revealing he’d been a survivor in Spain when the zombie apocalypse began.
This would have made him a perfect addition forDaryl Dixonseason 3, which will see Daryl and Carol traversing through Spain. However, while speaking withScreenRantat San Diego Comic-Con, executive producerGreg Nicotero revealed that Jeffrey will not be showing up in the upcoming season. However, he did mention the idea of bringing him in was discussed behind-the-scenes.

Nicotero went on to say that, despite his absence in season 3,it’s still possible Jeffrey could show up in the franchiseat some point later on. While it’s unclear when that would be, he offered hope that Rick’s brother won’t be sidelined forever. Thankfully, the possibility that he will show up eventually still remains - though when is still unclear.
Why Having Rick Grimes' Brother In The Daryl Dixon Spinoff Would Be Perfect
One Step Closer To Reuniting With His Friend
Jeffrey showing up on thecast ofDaryl Dixonwould be the perfect way to continue Daryl’s storyline involving Rick. He never gave up looking for his friend, and even though he came back at the end ofThe Ones Who Live, Daryl’s international adventures have prevented them from reuniting. Jeffrey, however, could be the story catalyst providing said reunion.
It would also be neat to seeThe Walking Deadspinoffs pulling more from the comics, with Jeffrey being the perfect opportunity to add those elements to Daryl’s show. While the Spain setting would have madeDaryl Dixonseason 3 the perfect time to introduce him, season 4 will still be taking place there, opening the door for his arrival.
