It’s been another great year forhorror, with Ryan Coogler’sSinnersstanding as a shining example of what the genre is capable of. With its blend of psychological tension, social commentary, supernatural dread, and killer score, the film has become a full-blown cultural phenomenon that made $365 million at the box office and has sparked serious Oscar buzz, incredibly rare for a horror film.

Franchise entries likeFinal Destination: Bloodlinesand28 Years Laterhave also delivered, proving there’s still room for innovation within established horror worlds. Meanwhile, A24’sBring Her Back, from Danny and Michael Philippou, andThe Monkey, written and directed by Osgood Perkins based on Stephen King’s short story, also stand as examples of strong auteur-driven horror.

On Threads,Stephen Kingshared a glowing review forTogether. Check out his post below:

King’s post, as seen above, reads, “Dave Franco and Alison Brie are great–and brave–in TOGETHER. Horror movies work when you care about the people. This one works.”

What This Means For Together

King is far from the only one praisingTogether. Themovie premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festivalin January, whereTogetherreceived rave reviewspraising its self-aware casting of Franco and Brie, which adds a layer of authenticity, ultimately delivering a body horror film that’s as emotionally gripping as it is disturbingly unforgettable.

However,Togetherwas released in theaters on July 31 and has yet to translate its buzz into box office numbers, making just $11.2 million against its $17 million budget. Perhaps King’s positive review could provide the boost thatTogetherneeds to turn in a strong second weekend.
