TheVenomfranchise is no stranger to absolute powerhouses, but those few who have developed the ability to fly truly rank above the rest of their symbiotic counterparts. While all symbiotes can unlock this power, only the strongest have been able to master this draconic relic of power. While not every winged Klyntar is as powerful as the next this list is here to find the strongest of them all.

Multiple multiverses before the eldritch god Knull rose to power in the Seventh Cosmos, there existed a draconic, primordial evil known as the Anti-All. As the omniverse’s first true villain, this obsidian black dragon became the blueprint for all beings of the Living Abyss in the eons following, including Knull. Knull’s first symbiote dragons unwittingly mirrored the Anti-All’s form, presenting themselves as modern terrors in their own right. However, technically, most symbiotes have the power to unlock a winged form of their own, butonly the strongest of all the Klyntar have unlocked this power.

V-Star Flying With Clouds Behind Her

10V-Star

First Debuted:Venomverse Reborn #3 (2025)by Steve Fox and Kei Zama

A somewhat honorable mention from an alternate reality, V-Star was lured by Eventuality into an alternate dimension where the cosmic god believed the symbiote could make a positive difference. Upon arriving in its new world, the V-Star symbiote infected a native scientist before bonding with his twin children. The two and their split symbiote spent years being agonizingly tortured by mad scientists, eventually warping the Klyntar intoa geometric anomaly of the species.

While this symbiote doesn’t possess wings like most of Marvel’s other flying symbiotes, it does have the ability toreform its jagged body into an aerodynamic formbefore launching itself into the sky at Mach speeds. The alien is particularly agile for its species, easily outmaneuveringan onslaught of SHIELD soldiers. However, little is known about the full scope of V-Star’s power, ultimately ranking the symbiote lower on the list.

9Void Knight

Debuted:Silver Surfer: Black #2 (2019)by Donny Cates and Tradd Moore

While Void Knight is technically considered a proto-symbiote, the alien is noted as being one of Knull’s favorite creations. Long before Knull’s first symbiote dragons, Void Knight was the pinnacle of the eldritch god’s creative vision. In an attempt to harness the Power Cosmic in his war against the Light, Knull ordered Void Knight to consume and forcibly bond with a wandering Silver Surfer. Shockingly, the proto-symbiote easily overwhelmed the herald of Galactus, proving to be a valuable weapon to Knull.

However, Void Knight’s life was cut relatively short after Ego the Living Planet discovered Knull’s profane schemes and unleashed a beam of pure psionic energy, immolating Void Knight andreleasing the Silver Surferin the process. While its life was cut short, Void Knight’s ability to overpower the Silver Surferproves just how disastrously mighty this proto-symbiote could have beenif it had more time to develop and grow. Few beings can dominate the Power Cosmic, but Void Knight is one of them.

8Grendel

First Debuted:Venom #1 (2018)by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman

One ofKnull’s earliest symbiote dragons, Grendel and its crimson partner were sent into the stars to hunt down powerful warriors to add to Knull’s growing army against the Light. During Denmark’s Viking Age, the two dragons crash-landed on Earth and became major figures in human mythology. Grendel is a towering monstrosity who dwarfs nearly everything in comparison. Because Grendel is one of Knull’s first creations,it possesses godly strength like few others, even rivaling a younger God of Thunder.

Grendel also possesses the power to generate offshoots of itself. Unlike traditional symbiote spawns, these offshoots, while semi-independent, are ultimately under the symbiote dragon’s control. In its complete dragon form, the alien creature issignificantly more resistant to the traditional symbiote weaknesses. However, Grendel was eventually overpowered by Carnage, who used the dragon to evolve himself into “Dark Carnage.” When Eddie Brock became the King in Black, the new Dark Carnage symbiote was sentenced to execution, officially ending Grendel for good.

7Big Mother

Debuted:Captain Marvel #20 (2001)by Peter David and ChrisCross

Next to Grendel, Big Mother is another member of Knull’s earliest symbiote dragons. Like her companion, Big Mother crashed onto 6th century Earth, where it was revered as a mystical mother of monsters. Alongside Knull’s other symbiote dragons,Big Mother is capable of light speed and interstellar travel, thanks to the direct source of Celestial energy it was fed from birth. However, unlike Grendel, Big Mother possesses a unique set of powers that few Earth-616 symbiotes do.

In addition to her monumental strength and overwhelming sense of ferocity, Big Mother learned much about the Earth’s early magic and how to harness the otherworldly powers for herself. Her studies now allow her tounleash a terrifying flaming breath, unfettered by the symbiotes’ weakness to flames.Crimson symbiotes tend to be inherently more powerful than their blackened counterparts, ranking this alien entity leagues above her “familial” counterpart in terms of raw strength and adaptable powers.

6Extrembiote

Debuted In:King in Black #2 (2020)by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman

Before its evolution into the Extrembiote, this alien parasite was originally one of Knull’s standard symbiote dragons. During the eldritch god’s invasion of Earth, Iron Man infected the dragon with the Extremis virus in a technological attempt to sever its connection to the Hive. The Extremis-infused creature began to merge with Iron Man’s armor, allowing the Avenger some temporary control over its power. However, Stark and his modified symbiote were targeted by Carnage, who merged a portion of his codex with the armor, officially creating the Extrembiote.

In its final draconic form, the Extrembiote possesses all the same powers as the other monstrously formidable symbiote dragons butenhanced by Iron Man’sbiomechanical modifications. The Extrembiote quickly proved to be a versatile enemy and ally as it was bothpowerful enough to possess a Celestial and to cleanse Knull’s corruptionfrom the god’s victims. Tony Stark also unintentionally gave the symbiote access to Stark Industry’s global network, effectively giving it access to Iron Man’s full arsenal of weapons.

5Anti-Venom III

First Debuted:Venom #33 (2021)by Donny Cates and Iban Coello

In the final battles ofKnull’s invasion of Earth, Thor, Storm, and Dylan Brock successfully broke the eldritch god’s control over the symbiotes. In doing so, the heroes unknowinglyallowed Flash Thompson’s formless codex to merge with a symbiotewithin the Hive and be reborn as Anti-Venom III. Now is a muscular draconic form, Flash Thompson and his Anti-Venom dragon continued to prove their strength well into the recent Venom War.

Anti-Venom III combines the ancient symbiote dragons’ most powerful abilities and the Anti-Venom serum’s unique biochemical traits. In addition to its wings and mighty size, this semisynthetic symbiote has the power to cleanse other symbiotes’ connection to the Symbiote Hive and has retained Anti-Venom II’s ability to form modern weapons like guns and grenade launchers from its biomass. Combined with the power of the King in Black,Anti-Venom III adeptly purged Meridius’s zombiote infectionbefore being corrupted by Carnage’s All-Blood.

4Meridius

Debuted In:Venom #1 (2021)by Al Ewing, Ram V, & Andrew Currie

Meridius is a temporal offshoot of Eddie Brock who usedKang the Conqueror’s time-travelinglessons to break free of his destiny and launch a new multiversal conquest to become the sole King in Black. Having long abandoned his human body, Meridius is as much a symbiote as any Klyntar andpossesses as much, if not more, control over the Symbiote Hive as Knull could. His absolute control over the multiversal nature of the Hive truly transcends Knull’s simpler motivations.

However, Meridius’s control over the Symbiote Hive not only transcends reality but also time. Unlike Kang,Meridius can use the Hive to effectively travel through time and manipulate the events of the pastand futureto ensure his own ascension. Likewise, Meridius showed more mastery over the symbiotes than his predecessors, successfully imposing his will onto multiple symbiotes at once and cementing his rise to ultimate power. Unfortunately for the symbiotic god, Meridius’s lack of humanity eventually spelled his downfall at the hands of Venom, Eddie, and a future Dylan Brock, whose sheer determination to save their loved ones prevailed.

3Venom

Fully Debuted:Amazing Spider-Man #299 (1987)by David Michelinie, Todd McFarlane, and Bob McLeod

Marvel’s first official symbiote, Venom is easily Marvel’smost diverse symbiote whose deeply empathetic connection to his previous hosts continues to evolve the alieninto something greater each time. Capable of drawing on the memories, intellect, and abilities of many of his previous hosts, Venom has become the most sought-after symbiote among the dozens that have been introduced. His resilience, dedication to his host and heroics, and sheer power rank Venom above most of his species.

Besides the traditional scope of symbiotic powers,Venom has developed mild telepathy, digital integration abilities, energy absorption, and poisonous fangs and claws. This gruesome murderer-turned-heroic father is an unparalleled power of endurance and perseverance, having survived countless lethal encounters with even more powerful enemies. After manifesting his dragon wings, Venom became one of the fastest and most agile members of his species, although he hasn’t used that power sincebonding with Mary Jane Watson.

2Carnage

First Debuted:Amazing Spider-Man #345 (1991)by David Michelinie and Mark Bagley

While Venom may be the staple face of this symbiotic franchise, he simply cannot compare to his extraordinarily horrific monster of a son. Carnage is defined by his persistence and ultimate craving for death and chaos. His motivations may be simple, buthis devotion to them has driven this symbiote to achieve a level of power that only the Kings in Black could achieve. It was Carnage who summoned Knull. It was Carnage who manipulated and defeated Meridius. But Carnage’s journey to power is not yet over.

Carnage may be in a weakened state now, but his mission remains the same: Eventuality. Sometime in the far future, Carnage is destined to rise asthe King in Crimson, an equal and opposing power to Eddie Brock’s ultimate future incarnation.Carnage has even defied all symbiote weaknesses, a feat that not even Venom has overcome yet.Like Venom, this crimson symbiote first developed his dragon wings during Knull’s invasion of Earth, but has rarely been seen using this newfound ability.

1Knull’s Symbiote-Armor

Fully Debuted In:Venom #3 (2018)by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman

Knull may bethe progenitor of all symbiotes, but that doesn’t make him a symbiote himself. Instead, the eldritch god equipped himself with his two earliest symbiotes, All-Black and his symbiote armor. Since the beginning of Knull’s multi-billion-year war against the Light, hissymbiotic armor has been with him throughout every battle and conquest.Every single life who perished under Knull’s space-faring domination died seeing the same obsidian-black Celestial-forged armor before meeting their untimely demise.

Knull’s armor haswithstood countless battles against the likes of Celestials, the Power Cosmic, and interstellar gods.It was only through the power of Captain Universe that Eddie Brock successfully removed Knull’s symbiote; However, it’s unclear whether the action actually killed the seemingly immortal armor. The armor additionally serves as a portal from which Knull can summon weapons from the Living Abyss like All-Black. While the Klyntar may have been defeated, there is no other winged symbiote in theVenomfranchise who has faced the sheer quantity of intergalactic and divine threats, and lived to see the other side, than Knull’s symbiote-armor.
