Adorable cat gameStrayfrom BlueTwelve Studio and Annapurna Interactive has earned mostly positive reviews since its release, with many coming away impressed by the short but sweet game.Straycan be fully completed in less than 10 hours, but those on PC are able to expand their experience with mods. One of the latestStraymods is absolutely horrifying, combining the game withGrand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Modder Sirgalahad172 has created an unintentionally horrifyingStraymod that replaces the cat in the game with the character model of CJ fromSan Andreas. They explained that the mod is “intended as a joke” because they think that CJ needs to be “modded in any game that exists.” It contorts CJ’s body to give him the same shape and movements asStray’s playable cat protagonist, and it really is disturbing.

Something to note about theStrayCJ mod is that it breaks the other cats that appear in the beginning of the game. At the start ofStray, the player cat is hanging around other cats, but those cats appear as dark blobs with the mod applied. According to the modder, this is because all the cats in the game share the same character model, and so implementing the CJ mod to change the main cat’s appearance breaks them.
This is not the first bizarre mod that’s been released forStraysince the game’s release. Another modder managed to create aStraymod that combines the game withHeavy Rain, Quantic Dream’s narrative-driven game where player choice changes the course of the story. That mod replacesStray’s cute “meow” button with one that makes the cat yell “JASON!” likeHeavy Rain’s main protagonist infamously does at the beginning of that game when looking for their missing son.
Strayis a short, budget-priced gameanyway, so it’s not a significant financial investment for anyone curious about getting the PC version and downloading some mods, like this weird CJ one.
Strayis available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
