Matt Damon’s movie was 2 hours and 15 minutes, which was a decent amount of time for a movie adaptation of its time. In 1997, movies were just starting to get over the two-hour mark when needed, and this film certainly needed it. However,it still wasn’t quite enough time.

The Rainmakeron USA Network’s 10 episodes will equate to around 6 hours and 40 minutes of screentime, based on around 40 minutes per episode. It’s usually a little more at around 43 minutes per episode due to the commercials on USA Network, but it takes it around three times the length of the movie.

Rudy Baylor’s relationship with Sarah Plankmore can be more nuanced considering their different backgrounds and lifestyles, as Sarah comes from a wealthy and privileged background, which opens for more debates and issues. We will get to see more of a push and pull between their experiences. Other complaints included too many explanations about legal process,dumbing down the source material.
With more time,The Rainmakershowrunner Milo Callaghan has a chance to include the intricacies of the cases, further developing the domestic abuse storyline to connect to audiences more, bringing the story more up to date. It makes for an exciting project to tune into as the USA Network grows.
