Goody Addams said her goodbyes inWednesdayseason 1, but it looks like season 2 found a clever way to bring her back. Though we have gotten to know several important Addamses over the years in theAddams Familyfranchise, Goody Addams is an entirely original character to the Netflix spinoff series. She was introduced inWednesdayseason 1 as a 17th-century ancestor with a remarkable likeness to Wednesday herself. She was a psychic Outcast and an enemy to Joseph Crackstone. It’s for this reason that Goody’s spirit helped Wednesday out in season 1.

After saving Wednesday’s life inWednesdayseason 1, Goody Addams’s spirit moved on. Crackstone no longer posed a threat, which meant Goody could be at peace. Therefore,we had no expectations that Wednesday’s ancestor would make an appearance in the upcomingWednesdayseason 2. However, thesix-minute sneak peek into the first episodes ofWednesday’ssophomore season included a clever nod to Goody’s character. It’s evident that, in a way, she is still by Wednesday’s side, offering her a (eerie) helping hand.

Wednesday Is Using Goody Addams' Spell Book In Season 2

Goody’s Book Has Helped Wednesday Master Her Abilities

In the six-minuteWednesdayseason 2 sneak peek released by Netflix Tudum,Jenna Ortega’s voiceover as Wednesday Addamsexplains how the titular character spent her summer off. As it turns out, Wednesday took advantage of her time away from Nevermore to master her psychic powers. The key to doing this, she explains, was hidden away in Goody Addams' book of spells, which Wednesday claimed back inWednesdayseason 1.

Goody had been a psychic, just like Wednesday and her mother, Morticia. In Netflix’s teaser clip,Wednesday sits chanting over Goody’s book of spells while holding the necklace her mother gave herback in season 1. It seems that the key to mastering her abilities, which were rather shaky back inWednesday’s previous installment, comes down to leaning into her ancestral past. With her abilities masters, Wednesday is ultimately able to hunt down a serial killer she had long been obsessed with—the Kansas City Scalper (played by Haley Joel Osment).

Wednesday season 2, part 1 premieres on Netflix on July 18, 2025, with part 2 following on August 08, 2025.

Overall,it still seems likely that Goody herself (who is also played by Ortega) won’t be appearinginWednesdayseason 2. Her spirit really did move on after she saved Wednesday from Joseph Crackstone at the end ofWednesdayseason 1. However, by bringing back Goody’s book of spells, the Netflix series has found the perfect way to incorporate this character into Wednesday’s story as it continues without her.

The Spell Book Is A Fun Way To Incorporate Goody After She “Moved On” In Wednesday Season 1

Goody Hasn’t Been Forgotten By Wednesday Season 2

Wednesday will probably never see Goody Addams again. However, the fact that she used her ancestor’s book to master the power that they both share is rather fun. Goody essentially sacrificed her essence to save Wednesday inWednesdayseason 1, and her legacy is ingrained at Nevermore Academy. It’s rather fitting that our titular Addams character would continue to learn from her ancestor. It’s even more fitting that Morticia’s necklace would play a role in all this, as it further emphasizes the necessity of family and connection in relation toWednesday’s supernatural abilities.

Though we can’t know for certain untilWednesdayseason 2 hits Netflix, it’s likely that Goody’s book of spells will continue to be useful to Wednesday in the subsequent episodes. After all, it’s not just a book about psychic powers. Wednesday may further utilize the spells and enchantments that Goody recorded there, especially as she gets herself into further exciting and frightening binds. Osment’s serial killer character is likely to be Wednesday’s last enemy, and she will need all she can get. ThoughGoody Addams is gone, it’s really as if she is still there by Wednesday’s side.
