Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Team Ninja’s next game, is the subject of a new video showcasing some of its gameplay and Mount Tianzhu, one of the areas players can look forward to exploring in the early stages of the game. Initially revealed at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase in 2022 as an upcoming game for Microsoft’s platforms,Wo Long: Fallen Dynastywas later confirmed to be simultaneously releasing on PlayStation 4 and 5.
Team Ninja has been around for a while, initially tasked with porting Tecmo’sDead or Alivefighting games over to home consoles and going on to develop the popularNinja Gaidenreboot series. More recently, Team Ninja has continued to work onDead or Alive,as well as developing the popularNiohseries. There is a lot to unpack in the new trailer forWo Long: Fallen Dynasty.The beautiful, lush scenery is starkly contrasted by some viciously dangerous enemies that have some surprisingly fast and lethal attacks. The game over screen is visible a few times through the course of the 10-minute long video, blazoned with the words “Crushing Defeat.” The video also showcases some exploration and platforming elements. A handful of weapons are showcased throughout the video, including a staff, a dual-wielded sword and dagger, as well as what appears to be some magic-based attacks towards the end.
Among the many Soulslike games that have released in recent history, Team Ninja’s offerings seem to stand out, withNiohand its sequel highly regardedamong fans of the genre.Wo Longundoubtedly seeks to continue the trend with its fast-paced combat and gorgeous setting of a fantastical version of the Three Kingdoms period.Wo Longappears to be linear for the most part, with many secrets hidden off the beaten path for players to discover.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynastywill release on July 24, 2025 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
